Is it ok to only transplant once? (From 16 oz to 2.5 gal)

So thanks in advance to anyone who gives advice. A couple questions:

So If my goal is to have say a 2.5 foot plant total in length, would it be ok transplant from the starting 16 oz cups into the 2.5 gallon pot and flower from that? How much of an advantage is it to say, transplant to a 1 gallon pot, then to a 3 gallon pot for example?

Also, I have about 14 seedlings, and would rather not have to plant them into 1 gallon pots only to find out they are males. Will I be able to veg them long enough in the cups to be able to sex them so I don't have to transplant them?

Thanks.

Yes it is verry, possible you can grow giants in 2.5 gallon pots if you know what youre doing. But i wouldent really care how tall your plants are you should care how many internodes you have and how gurthy (or "Thick" as i call it) your plants are cause thats whats usually dependent on how fat of buds the pland will produce!

Ok so lets say I transplant when they are a few weeks old into a 2.5 gallon container. This will not cause the roots to shoot straight to the bottom of the pot, whereas you put it in a smaller pot, it does this less; causing less stretching?

Regarding my other question though, will I be able to sex the plant while still having it in the 16 oz cup, or do you think there will not be enough vegetative growth to tell? I'm still fairly new at this. Probably should have posted in the newbie forum. But I don't wanna be called a newbie bongsmilie

My setup is using 5x 27w daylight 5500k cfls, I have been keeping them within 1-2 inches of the plants.

well like i said it all depends on your experience, yah i do think you can tell sex,if you bud it in the cup,but then when you transplant youll waste a lot cause the plant would of been able to harvest way more, unless you reveg them you sex em!

BTW I'd go for way more light for budding or youll be dissapointed!!!
