Is it ok to leave some of the old nute waters in res tank when filling it, or should i empty it completely before?

So i have this autopot system and recently started using nutes in it, because i vegged for so long that biotabs started to run out of nutes and plain water with supervit did not do it anymore. It is a passive hydro that does not circulate water, if that makes any difference. Using remo nutes with AN nirvana and GH Roots(also just ran out of hesi super vit and AN rhino skin, which i might get more of, unless the remo nutes i bougt can give what they also give) in the res tank.

I started wondering that when im adding new water and nutes in the tank, is it ok to leave a bit of the old in there, or should i empty the tank and clean it also some times? Or is it ok to do this a few times, but then at times empty it all and clean? If so, how often change all and clean it?

I have an autopot system that I just started using as well. Some of the advice I’ve been given is to make sure it’s kept clean to prevent backing up and clogs. It really is an awesome little system and I plan to clean the aqua valve and tubing once a week and the Rez whenever I change water. I work in regular greenhouses and I use different jacks line ups like all purpose, mum feed, petunia feed etc and I always make sure to clean them out when they run out or they will definitely get nasty.

I dont think it needs to be cleaned that often if you use filters. Or does it? It doesent really make sense if im using like 25-30 litres of water in my res tank and someone else using a 400 litre tank and we both need to clean every time when we add water you know..

However im a bit unsure if i should get better filters. Im currently only using the one that came with the autopot system and it seems like its only going to pick up big trash, but im not sure if its enough with my nutes. Then again i dont know if better filtering would cause clogging on the filter itself.

I heard that its enough if you clean the tubing and aqua valve after each grow.

Yeah I was told to get bigger tubing and clean them often but I wouldn’t be concerned about filtering your Rez unless your using something you need to dissolve. I’m using canna coco a and b so i don’t see what I’d need to filter. We only use 55gallon tanks and a docitron at 1-100 I just used them as an example because they do have to be cleaned often or it’ll get nasty quick.

Since i started using southern AG i have not cleaned my DWC system at all... or even changed water, i top up.. check PH and let it run.. no slime, roots are pure white.. no reason to make things more work than there needs to be. Temps 73-77 in the water.
