I have a growfridge with a 150w hps and about 150w of cfls as side lighting. I made this fridge halfway during my first grow so i have never vegged in here yet.
I have tons of air circulation in my fridge and the temp stays at 78f with the lights on.
So i have a 175w mh bulb that came with my lights (digital ballast) and i have 5 day old plants that i started under cfls that i decided to put under the 175w mh with my veg cfls as side lighting. I went to work and came home to see the temps are over 90f. The set up is the same except i changed the hps to mh and i changed my cfls to the veg kind.... Either way i didn't expect that big of a heat difference.
So I managed to get the heat down to 80f with an extra fan blowing on the light and taking away the cfls.
Is this normal? Is the 175w mh that much hotter then then the 150 w hps?
My plants still look fine but have i stressed the shit out of them?
And is it even nessesary to put side lighting in veg stage?
