Is It Dangerous To Wash My Glass With Rubbing Alcohol And Salt?

So I heard that cleaning my glass pieces with salt/rubbing alcohol is bad for the glass, like some people said the inside of my bong will get scratched from the salt? Is this true? Or does this happen on low quality glass?

yah, there is no way that a lil salt is going to scratch up your glass.. it's true that the salt is added as an abrasive, but it is no where near abrasive enough to do any damage to the glass, just the nasty's that live on the glass pretty much, lol..

awesome haha im sorta excited to clean my piece lol will do this evening its been nearly a month although I vape and stuff with it, so its not nearly as dirty as you would imagine :)

i usually just skip on the salt tbh, i just use some extra solvents instead and some heavy shaking gets the job done pretty well instead of having to use the salt.. i used to use the salt, but i didn't really see much of a difference with it, so i figured i'd save the salt for the corn on the cob instead of my glass..
i've also found it you let the glass soak for a good 10 / 20 minutes or so first, it also helps to loosen up any stubborn pieces.. not sure if you're cleaning a bowl or a bong or what, but usually when i clean a glass bowl, i'll just fill up a bowl that the bowl will fit in, and place the bowl in the bowl and let it soak for a while first.. than i do the heavy shaking, usually trying to keep the solvent in the bowl the entire time i'm shaking too..

So do I need alot of rubbing alchol? Like should I pour some into my bowl along with some salt ? Or do I like get a tub and fill it up then submerse the full bong?

yah, you can just pour it into your bong.. just make sure to try and cover up any holes like your carb or what have you so that the solvent stays in the bong longer that way..

ok so pour a little of both in, let set for a minute? Or swoosh immediately? And then dump out, after use water to clear rest ya?

ok did that wow It took all that gunk right away! So i rinsed with water like 2x, am i safe to toke? Is that alcohol harmful? Anything else I need to do?

I just cleaned my 28" 3-perc tree bong with 91% rubbing alcohol, some table salt and a little shaking. I personally feel that although it evaporates it does leave a bit of taste behind. To get rid of this I use some lemon juice and shake it through the percs. If you're HBG is like my buddies then I know your bong well (it knocked me out one day.)

When I'm bad and go 2 or more weeks without a real cleaning I have to get mean. I break out the Oxyclean and almost boiling water (don't pour in boiling water or you could shatter your bong if conditions are right.) I let the oxyclean bubble up out the top and hold the solution in with a wine bottle cork in the down stem hole. If it's really dirty it can take up to 15 - 30 minutes, but I'm convinced Oxyclean will get enough resin out that the cops couldn't 'detect' any residue if they tested it (which I've always doubted was real.) When done I rinse it with a LOT of water to get everything out, then soak it in lemon juice for 10 - 15 minutes, fast water rinse, load, done.

Every time I clean it it looks new. :) Alcohol and salt is a ton cheaper than 420 or the other cleaners.

LOL thats good that my bong knocked you out! must have been some amazing bud! Furthermore haha wondering are these stickers (LOGOS) just that a sticker? Anywhere to buy replacement stickers lol

Yup his HBG was amazing, it had 3 perc trees of 6 diffusers each and for the bottom chamber it had one long diffuser along the center of a tube that went up to the down-stem. It was amazing and he was a great guy to smoke with too, we'd literally just chill for hours playing foozeball or DJ hero. Good times.

I decided that I wanted a bong like that, but his was something like $600 and that was after a generous discount from the head shop manager who's a good friend of ours. So I got the pipe below, pretty much the same design on the main tube, but it has a round bottom chamber instead of the tube. Of the two, I really can't tell a different in who's hits better, I'd say they're about equal; his is just a bit cleaner and more precise in the assembly. Mine has a few flaws, but I like 'em. :)

The pic was taken 5 minutes after cleaning my pipe tonight, I love how she hits when she's been completely scrubbed. :)
