Is It Chromosonal?

Are sex differences due to actual differences in chromosomes like in animal species, or are all plants potentially male or female from seed?

biology twerent my strong suit.

but i beleive it is if not chromosonal, genetic.

if seeds could go either way femenizing soaks would be way more popular.

seems to be luck of the draw mostly, although both males and females can be stressed into herm, but i beleive that to be a survival trait

I have looked high and low for answers, but just about every wording of a google search refers me to these forums, LOL. Surely someone here has enough botany training to clarify? It doesn't seem to be a very good survival strategy for a plant though, after all, it isn't as if they can go to where the boys are. Perhaps MJ is a very old species and just hasn't evolved as well as other plants that are self pollinators?
