I hate auto flowering strains for one reason.
The trait that causes the plant to auto flower also brings with it very low resin production.

Because somehow, genetically, the two traits of reproductive cycle and resin production combined into one co-dependent trait? Ha ha! Each one is a separate trait, just like taste, smell, color, height, etc, that can be bred into or out of a strain through subsequent generations. Ha ha ha!
I've grown many autos as an experiment this year and they all vary in potency just like photo strains. They are exactly the same except that they flower in response to age of the plant rather than the light cycle. They use the same soil, same nutes, same ph, etc. I will say that in general they are smaller and therefore the yields are smaller. They also are sensitive to abuse or topping, as there is no recovery period or the ability to extend the veg period.
So just like anything they have strengths and weaknesses you need to research then judge for yourself if autos are appropriate for your garden. Certainly grow them and try them before you toss out a blanket statement about resin production, potency, and other characteristics. I'm smoking Paradise's Pandora right now and it is fruity, spicy, ooey gooey two-hit-quit gear my friends ask for when I break out the head stash.

if you are asking are auto's the "be all end all" of indoor growing...no, they do have there advantages/disadvantages like any strain that's why I do photo and auto strains...I get 1 -1 1/2oz a plant in 2gal pots every 55-60days...my auto box is 2'x5' with a 400hps...I grow indoor as most of the Auto growers. But I never grow a Auto strain. Is it the way to go or not? How much do you get from her? What size space do you flower in? And what do you use for light? Any info would help..... thanks
and as far as low resin production.. do you grow or have ever grown a auto strain???
if you have grown a auto strain that was low in resin production...maybe a shit strain, maybe you messed up, maybe you grew the autos from 10years ago, maybe any combo of things...but there is many autos that have lots of resin my RRF and my auto Russian Jems both have a nice coating, granted not as much as my Jack the Ripper but close. and that have way more than many photo strains I have grown...

The only autos I've grown (lowrider crosses) have been low in potency compared to anything else I've grown.

Lowryder is a fairly shitty strain. I have one flowering and it's equivalent to some decent grown local outdoor IMO. Chronic Ryder is whatsup from my experiences.

if i may add in that the reason the resin production is so low is because ruderalis/wild growing marijuana is free of thc and by mixing genes with such you get a quick to produce plant but its very small "depending on flowering pot size" ive heard people have good luck with five gals through flower. But the insta flower traits is also passed on thc levels can be raised if the strain has a few years under its belt and has been correctly stabilized. Overall they are what they are a small quick harvest.

I have been thinking about autos for outdoors because they are small and I could possibly get two harvest in a summer, as for growing them indoors,I would think it more cost effective just to grow regular photo period( clones ) indoors In a SOG. I mean basically in both cases you are growing small plants with little or no veg time. The difference if I understand this is that autos are keep under 24/0 or 20/4 light cycle and a reg photo plants is on 12/12,It would cost you more in electric cost to grow an auto then a reg plant. I mean if its just the convenience of not having to buy/plug in a timer I'll stick to my SOG.
I do believe autos have a place in the outdoors,as they are stealth plants,but I'm not a believer in there indoor usefulness yet.

I wouldnt advise them for outdoors, unless your planning on cutting and clearing a decent little lot of land. If your worried about money you "could" get four of these guys on a dwc top feed 20 gallon tote and flower em on a set of t12's. But with their small size there would be alot of sun fight with native plant species for outdoor use with these strains. but honestly if your not doing large amounts in a small area these guys arent really for you.

IMO. The best plants for a smaller grow area, a tent, closet whatever. Are autos. Potency difference between photo and auto is MINIMAL between well selected genetics. Photo's can not produce the way autos do.
And on a side note, Auto's will only get better with time...
I do have an underlying fear of feminized autos. For reasons beyond their quality.... but i still love em

Have not tried an auto yet but I hear a lot of people complaining about them starting to flower while they are still real young and small???

That is why people buy them. Males will show sex within 14-17 days, females typically 7-10 days later. I especially like them for the ease of growth. Some of my plants are meds and autos have high CBD, especially the indicas. For me and my headstash I prefer sativas. There are some great sativa autos out there these days. There is no freaking way I have the space to grow a sativa photoperiod inside (or the patience). I can get really good sativa nuggets in 60 days from seed, that IMO is bad ass. I have also traded with photoperiod growers many times they cannot tell a difference. Treat them well and you'll be pleasantly surprised. In the 60 odd days it takes me to grow an auto I get about a gram a day per plant.
