I had to deal with family services. My son got in trouble and someone somewhere stated that I have crack in my house. Now, she comes and interviews me and the kids and I am straight up honest with her, I admit that I smoke weed. But she tells me the reason she is here is because of the crack claim, which I have never ever done. So, we continue talking and mind you it was very cordial, much to my surprise. She tells me that marijuana is a big pain in her ass. She sees that my home is in good order, the kids are safe and well taken care of yada yada yada. She asks if I would mind going to take a drug test just to eliminate the crack claim. I obliged, but reminded her I would test positive for weed, she was ok with that. Next day I get up and go piss like she requested. Talked to her today and she said the test results were just as I told her it would be, positive for weed only. She is going to turn her report into the supervisor and recommend no further action. I dont know what to think about that. I admitted I smoke weed and I tested positive but she is recommending no further action is neccessary. I am having difficulty in obsorbing that considering the laws.
Is it a sign of the times????

but to be honest, because she has seen that you are a very well and healthy family and your children are safe, even if this situation dose go futher because you are harming absolutley nobody and if you were im sure you would stop whatever it is harming your family, and for that i think the laws would go easy on you seeing as you arent causing them any trouble either, if they do anything at all that is.

Child Protective Services are a bunch of assholes. Don't trust them.

I think she realized that. If they decided to come after me then they would create a lot more problems for the kids, and their lifestyle would definetly degrade if they took them away and gave them to their mother. This is one of those cases where their hands are kinda tied. Take the pot smoking daddy off the street and give them to the jobless mother that still lives with her mother, that would be tough decision.
Why would I do that at this point? As long as family services drops it and if something ever does happen, then I can point to family services say they know I smoke and it is officially documented. Now, I know I would still get in trouble, but so will they.

hmmm, i see what you mean, in that case, do whatever you feel comfortable with, if i was in this predicament, i would stop smoking mary j for a while, get all the thc outta my system and somehow transfer my plants to a trustworthy and willing fiend. this way even though they have the evidence of the thc in your body, they will have no actual proof of anything illegal in your household.

Besides a positive drug test the only other things they could possibly get me on is misdemeanor charges. To be honest, I am not really overly concerned with that. Now, any subsequent charges could probably be turned into a felony, but for now I can handle a $500 fine and 6 month probation...woooopeee. I just dont think it will go that far. But, is this a possible precedence I see here?

You really should not trust what they say.I have an aunt that works with family services,and she has said many time's that the best way for her to do her job when going to someone's house is by trying to gain there trust,build them up on good thing's,that way they might slip up and tell/do something else.Or when they come to take the kid's away she can talk to the parents since they already trust her,they normally wont flip out much since she will just make it sound really simple to get the kids back.

I understand what your saying and them using that tactic. I used to work for them too about 10 years ago. So I have an understanding on how they do things. I say this cautiously, but I dont think that is the case this time. I was completely honest(for what its worth in most cases), and unless she is stupid as hell, which I doubt, she knew how to do her job. She asked the right questions and with the right timing. I admitted I smoked weed well before she breached the crack subject. I had a reasonable and honest answer for everything she asked. If she knows what she is doing, she knows that I have the best intentions and my priorities are in line with how I should be taking care my kids, even though I smoke a little weed.

Glad to see you replied fdd, I was waiting for your input. No, I will not let them leave me hanging. I called her 10 minutes after I went and pissed. I have called her everyday until she received the results which was this morning. Which was when she said she will turn the report into the supervisor. And well....its the big picture I am looking at. Come on, FS is turning their head on a household where MJ in known to be used??? I really have a hard time accepting that, but if that is the way things are leaning then great, there may actually be a future us. If she felt I was endangering my children, the police are only a phone call away for her, but she is recommending no further action knowing I smoke weed.

BTW Oh, just to get things going with the crowd, I will say the opening statements will be something along the lines of " why does he cancel school with only an inch of snow?". Come on people!!! an inch of snow isnt shit, I dont care where you live and have never seen snow before. An inch of snow is really no worse than any rain storm you have driven through. A torrential down pour or an inch of snow...big deal, sloooooooow doooooown!!!!!!! take your time and its cool. So what if the school buses are 20 minutes late getting the kids to school. That tells me they(THE BUS DRIVERS) took their time and they were not concerned about being late as much as the safety of the passengers. Know what I mean.
