A notable no show at last weeks ceremonies honoring Nelson Mandela was Israel. The excuse they actually used was that it cost too much to attend, even though nations as far away as Cuba attended. They sent NO ONE. Some say it was due to the fact that when international embargos were placed on South Africa in the 80's due to their apartheid policies they ignored them, and continued to trade, especially in arms. Now today, they are under threat of experiencing embargos similar to that of South Africa it self, as that now 14 EU countries are asking that any products produced by Israeli settlements in the West Bank, be clearly identified as such. The Dutch notably cancelled a joint project that supposedly would have made commerce easier between Gaza and the West Bank, but Israel apparently had the opposite in mind (who would have thought). The EU specifically stated that if anymore settlements where planned in response for the prisoner releases scheduled next month, the EU response would be severe, and sanctions would be enacted. Israel had no immediate response to that for a change, but I expect the anti-Semitic bullshit will follow shortly. It seems that the majority of the worlds nations have had about enough of Israel's flaunting of the rules set by international bodies as to the treatment of the Palestinians. It seems to me also that the clock is winding down as far as to the patience shown by the world at large to the bull shit peace conferences staged by the US and Israel. Good, and it's about fucking time. Remember Mandela, who by the way stated there was no difference really between the Palestinian people and the blacks in S. Africa. A wise man was Nelson Mandela. Peace out
