Is curing really worth it?

I am a big fan of the "how to grow" videos out there on the web. I torrented a few and the ones I like the most are the Jorge Cervantes 1&2 and "I grow green" with the green guy who wears sunglasses.

I just finished up the flowering portion of the green video and the guy doesn't cure at all. He goes straight from drying to the bong.

From what I understand curing will make the smoke smoother. Is this true and is it worth it? Also how long do you cure your bud for and in a light or dark environment?

Curing is everything man. Unless you want your buds to smell like hay and taste bad with harsh smoke.

Cure them in mason jars, but not packed in tight. You want to be able to open the jars and air em out everyday and turn the buds. You also want to make sure that as little light as possible is present when curing, as light degrades thc. Check the grow FAQ for more info.

i do agree curing makes the weed less harsh, but i totally disagree that your buds will smell like hay and taste bad if you don't cure, the only reason that would happen is if you grew shit weed!

Well, weed often smells like hay when drying, form the chlorophyll dissapating. Its also a common smell if they weed is overdried, which happens a lot with new growers.
