:leaf:is curing a personal choice? or a must do kind of thing when harvesting? is it possible just to dry your buds then blaze them? or do you gotta cure them first? is curing just for having better quality smoke?
 
ay one time I believed it was, I would say no, its a must for good tasting, burning and smelling buds.
 
yes... curing is a must! especially if you wanna SMOKE your buds lol....

curing not only brings back the sticky goodness(moisture) seemingly lost in the drying process, but it also brings out the lush potent smell if the buds..

if you dont cure your buds will taste like hay, and smoke really harsh.... its whats referred to as: backyard boogie, homegrown hay, cellar smoke, shwag, sess, stress, booger buds, hemp flowers, noobie doobies, headache makers, schnots, tumble weed, bammer, growers lament, all fantastic names for not so fantastic bud.

treat yourself right and cure your hard work. its like putting a clear coat on a paint job, buffing and cutting the paint, then its cured.... lots of work, time and effort... but its the difference from a rattle can backyard makeover or a show car. you decide, its your bud. mine is cured...lol

if u want to find out just take a few buds when theyre dry and smoke it, then cure the other bud and compare the two.
 
yeah i feel you..i have the buds drying right now, but i had another question...im drying my buds in a brown paper bag, because i live with my parents so its kind not possible to hang them to dry..is it fine to dry my buds in paper bags? and then once there dry.throw them in the jar to cure them?

This is from another thread..: [FONT=&quot]Place your herb in a brown paper bag (never plastic!) somewhere dark and leaving it for ~14-21 days if not longer. The dark stops photosynthesis, and the paper, which is pourus, prevents the humidity from getting too high causing mold concerns. Check on your herb occasionally to see how the cure is going and to turn/move the buds, allowing even drying. I've had herb cured this way that stayed in the cure process for over a month, and was phenominal, while dried herb from the same plant, ready after only 5 days, was mediocre, producing a harsher, greener tasting smoke.

You must dry the herb at least till they feel crispy to the touch then you place them in the paper bag. Going from harvest straight to the paper bag is not good. Mold will attack your herbs kid. With this method you dont need a jar only for storage after they cured in the paperbag. Paperbag does all the work... old school style but effective! Hope that helps kid!

Thanks alot henry style...i got a 1 bag thats filled to the top with buds so i think im going to break it up into 2 or 3 other bags so all of it gets dried evenly..and i have another bag with a different type of bud drying..its in my closet so its dark..i think patience is the key here if you said 14-21 days because i want phenomenal bud and this bud has the potential for it because its dank already
 
alright good deal..ive had them drying for a good 4-5 days and theyre starting to get pretty krispy and dry..i think 3 or 4 more days will be fine, and then theyll be ready?..i havent poked holes in the bag yet, but thanks for that tip Krunk..im going to poke holes in the bags after school today.
 
Ideally you should dry your buds by hanging them or placing them on a drying screen in a dark area with good air circualtion for several days (time depends on conditions), then move them to a brown paper bag for 5-7 days to continue the drying process along. The paper bag allows the buds the dry more evenly by redistributing the moisture in them. It also (along with step one, drying in a dark area) stops the production of sugars and starches, this is what makes your buds tasted like hay, grass, leaves, or whatever. Once the buds are evenly dry, again the amount of time depends on the conditions in your area, move them to Mason jars to cure properly for at least two weeks. Curing in the jars will bring back the dank smell, even out the coloring, bring out the trichs more, make the buds smoke smooother, taste and smell better.

To much in the bag kid. Stack about 3-4 inches high per bag. You want it to dry evenly. You can even double bag it to slow the drying process down. slow without mold is the key.

alright thanks alot guys..my plan is to keep the buds drying in the paper bags with the holes in them for the next few days, then i will move the buds tothe jar i had them in at first to hopefulyl gain back color and good smell and taste.hopefully this works..i would hang them to dry but its kind of hard with parents haha.
 
:leaf:me personally just frome the years of smokin uncured herb i kind of like the taste not to say a fine cured herb is not the bomb but as fdd stated above there is no need they smoke just fine uncured but thats just my opinion :leaf:
 
yeah ive been blazed a few bowls of it just dried, and the taste is alittle harsh not so bad though, and ive gotten pretty high.
 
As a few have said, you don't have to cure your buds but if you want tohem to smell dank, taste good, and smoke smooth then you should. Some like the taste of uncured bud, personally I don't. BTW if you plan on making any money from your harvest, you will really want to cure it. Curing is what gives it bag appeal.
