is cheap organic potting soil ok if i use foxfarm nutes with it?

first time grower and im trying to see if i would yield more by spending the extra money on soil and growing fewer plants or if i should just use cheap soil and put out alot more plants. Im using the foxfarm grow big for veg and the big bloom for flower. PLEASE HELP LOL IM SO LATE TO BE JUST STARTING
