In a cash pinch they work fine, and will not affect the taste or quality of the smoke. Make sure you use white vinegar as it has an indefinite shelf life, but of course, as I am sure someone will say at some point, if you can spare the cash, ph up and down can be purchased for around $30 for the both of them. Hope that helps.

Or quit shopping at the hydro store and shop the pet isle in walmart ph up and down is a few bucks or go lazy and get the tablets which will hold ph around 6. 10 bucks is all you would spend and it does the same shit. White vinegar is good to run through your air stones and water pumps to clean em out too!

vinegar = no. it sucks. it just sucks. so does lemon juice. u gotta use concentrated acids. (diluted with water)

it is about 10 bucks for a 1 litre-ish bottle at pet / aquarium stores.

Distilled white vinegar works fine if you don't mind the smell. As has been said, walmart pet aisle near fish.
