ok so i have cut off 2 litter botlles wouldthat be ok to plant them in or would i need a lot bigger pot i dont want big big plants but i dont want to hurt it any sugestions or is that okay?

You give very little information on your expectations. One thing is for sure; clear containers can lead to root rot. Just make sure, whether you're using a shotglass or a bathtub, that the roots and medium are held in a container which is opaque.

huh i didnt know that i probally wont keep it in them to long but i cant get a bigger pots yet but ill just cover up the outside so no light gets in but i thinking maybe id let it grow like 1 1/2 then id flower but im not sure trying to be sneaky dont want to big

im growing in them right now, 2 weeks into flower (2' tall) and no problems yet. you will have to water them more often than you would with bigger pots however, so you wont be able to be away from them for more than prob 3 days at a time if this matters. fwiw next time im just gonna buy some cheap bigger pots cause the roots look extremely crowded, but ive had no problems with root rot as suggested

okay thanks im gona transplant them to a bigger pot before i try to flower though im afraid the roots being crowded will make it grow less

if you want them to stay small, keep them in those containers through flower, and flower early..

If you don't care how big they get, get whatever you'd want.

I used to use cut-off 2 litres for veg.I found that you had to cover the outside with a paper sleeve to block light.I now use peat pots instead, they are just easier.

10 or 12 inches I guess, I wouldn't try to grow them much larger as they get root-bound. One good thing about using pop bottles is that you can slide off the paper sleeves and see the roots,so you know when this happens.Good luck with it,I remember well trying to grow with no money or resources. There is no reason why you can't get somefine smoke this way. Keep it up!

Before anybody makes their mind up about needing large pots they should read fdd2blk's thread titled "its all bullshit",reading that thread & seeing exactly what can be done in small 1/2 gallon to 1 gallon pots inspired the hell out of me.

Im done with big pots, they are more expensive to use & there is no real reason for it,im switching over to all 1 gallon pots & im mixing in a few 1/2 gallon pots also,i want to see what the half gallon pots will produce for me.

Something ive found since i started using the smaller pots is that the plants do grow a bit faster,i attribute this to no water being left in the small pot for extended periods, making it next to impossible to overwater,im also pretty sure that the smaller pots make it harder to end up with soil related problems like nute lock, once the root system fills the small pot anything thats put in the dirt is quickly absorbed by the roots.

Take a few minutes & read this thread,fdd2blk is right in my book.
