is 400w hps too much for a stealth box?

Im thinking about growing a stealth box after just completing a dwc with three plants, but I only have a 400w hps and the speaker box is only 12in long 15inches wide and 32inches high. I would have 2 small computer fans exhausting with a carbon filter and one intake fan, plus another computer fan blowing on the light as its going to be hung in just a homemade reflector, nothing too fancy. Ballast outside of the box.

Do you think it would get too hot? Would the 400w work?

I agree, 400w HID gets very hot, unless you used glass and vented the light with a fan bigger than a computer fan..maybe.

I have the same problem. 400w is too hot for me. I want to use a 250w MH for vegging but I only have a 400w ballast.

Would it be ok to use a 250W MH bulb on a 400W ballast?

Def not, the ballast needs to be the same as the bulb. I willing to sell it to someone real cheap through paypal then, like 50 dollars. Never used still in box.

i jsut moved to a new house, and I dont have enough room or the right conditions to grow out in the open or in a closet like I used to. I used a DWC with flourescents and cfls in my old house and purchased this light to use on my next grow, but I had to unexpectedly move. SO now I have limited space and I am in the process of doing a micro grow in a stealth box and the 400w would just be too hot to put in something that is 30 inches high 2 feet wide and 15inches long
