anyone have any ideas to keep animals of all kinds away from my plants?? i heard soap and moth balls? does this really work?:eyesmoke:
 
Fence!

Soap keeps loads of bugs off, as do moth balls.
These are unlikely to deter larger animals.
 
haha i thought the word fence would pop up lol. how well will galvanized chicken wire shop up at a distance? its not polished so it should be harder to see since it wont shine. i just dont want anyone walking by to see it
 
I use small sticks with fishing line for the smaller animals in a 2' circumferance around the plant. Then I do a larger one around 4' diameret around the plant...thicker sticks and stronger line, for the bigger animals, they wont' push through it.....or that has been my experience.....haven't had any problems to date of critters eating my plants, and its invisible..... I've also heard that human hair is a great deterrent for larger animals but never tried it......I figure it would only last as long as the smell in the hair does.......try it around one of em if you want......I bet ya it'll work, unless you got some crazy critters
 
yeah idk how but one of the plants i put outside two nights ago is gone. the stem is sitting there. but the plant isnt where it should be. so i squirted a bunch of dish soap on the ground and put fabric softeners under some of the bushes near by. it smells like my laundry room out there now.
 
the other thing you could do is go to a hunting shop and get predator piss and put it by the plants. this will only last as long as the smell hangs around though so you would have to go back and reapply
 
that actually would work better than the soap i would think. i wouldnt wanna go near something that smelled like bear piss if i was a dear lol
 
ya I know some dudes who grow on crownland and do it, they seem to crop pretty damn good, and theres moose, deer, foxes , bunnies and the alike, bears dont seem to bother the plants.....if they come to check out the smell.....but if it's just deer and smaller animals you may be ok with just the line,,, having it smell like laundry may be a novelty at first but will wear off quickly as this is a familiar smell that will definitely draw attention if you have strangers walking close and there is no laundromat close by. Just food for thought!
 
ha yeah its private property but there is always that possibility. idk. im glad its close to home so i can change the light cycle with a big trash bin. im not gonna let them get too much bigger cause im getting impatient and i wanna move my black kush there when its ready
 
black kush, sounds interesting, never hear of it........your own or did you by a seed......i fighting myself to let my girls go the whole season, I have a couple affies that are gunna be ready at the end of august and one of them is a little bush, i just wanna through it back in the fridge and bud it, but...alas....im trying to leave it outside to get as much crop as I can, we get shitty short summers right now in canada and it supposed to be a short growin season according to the almanac...so i'll do the indoor come fall. I also have two BC strains and 4 mystery bag seeds on the go. I think a total of 17 in all with 12 clones in the fridge counted
 
yeah its scary flowering in montana too. cause you usually end up harvesting a week or two early due to upcoming frost. so im gonna induce flowering with my sensi star. the black kush is one of my caretakers strains. idk if they made it or not. all i know is there is no green in the nugs at all. and it tasts like grape cool-aid. so im excited to see how well i can get it done. i got 45 of the seeds.
 
this is a badass site. i used to just type my questions and shit up on google and it kept bringing me here. so i signed up when i found out it was free. this place is awesome for learning new shit. i love it.
 
DUDE..... i am sooo jealous... that sounds just awesome.....I wish I was your neighbor...LOL..... I would love to try something like that..... Ya man I joined two months ago and now Im here like everyday....I've learned so much in the past two months its unbelievable......lots of cool folk on here too to chat about your grow with.....which is awesome since its hard with typical friends and fam! and damn 45 seeds, I would make sure to keep a male and pollenate to get many many seeds of that stuff.....if you don't kill your girls at the end of the season you can make fem seeds or start cross breading......just getting into that stuff now and its freakiin sweet
 
yeah lol. out of 45 seeds i better get at least a couple males. it would be cool to cross the sensi star with the black kush. id call it black star or sensi kush lol. the bag of sensi star i got the seed from is so good. its the strongest sativa at my caretaker and its supposed to flower really fast. i have no idea about the black kush though. i heard kush could be tricky to grow. and yeah man i was sad when they said they were outta that purple. but then i got the blueberry.. and shortly after i forgot how bummed i was.... lol
 
good to know, ima gunna grab some seeds from attitude in the fall and fire up some new strains, then I wanna start playing with their genetics.....I wish I had a whole basement to do this in and not just a coupe fridges LOL......gotta scoot, talk to ya, best of luck with your grow, i'm sure you'll do great!
