It seems that the gene for morphine production has been isolated.

Implantation into bacteria, yeast, tomatoes or corn anyone?

Imagine the craft beer made with implanted barley, hops and yeast.

Or, the most powerful pot on the planet.

What the hell did i do with my gene gun?

Anyone want to pitch in for projectiles?

But pot isn't in my genetic make up..its just the morphine..

It would be fairly trivial to insert it into a bacteria. I wonder what would happen if you used an infectious bacterium as the host.

It certainly would have potential. Even if you manage to build a tolerance fast enough for your immune system to fight it off I imagine it would be quite incapacitating.

I guess the closest would be the genes responsible for the synthesis of ergoloids but those are still a long way from Lucy.
