Inground grow room???

is it possible to build an underground growroom/garden?i understand the lighting and stuff but how would i control in ground temperatur and humidity??
 
yes its extremely possible and sometimes houses do have rooms that dwell deeper than the foundation lines and go underground. Anythings possible with time and money
 
it wouldn't be too hard to control temperature. Even if its -40 outside its still like above zero underground.

actually there is a Frost Line in which the ground below that area stays a constant 70 Degrees Farinheight...refer to the map to see how far down this layer would be...

Fuck YEAH! That's what we're gonna do. Because it's under the house it's automatically far more stable with regard to almost every environmental factor you can control. :D

How much room do you think you have to work with? The area I have to use is almost the entire footprint of the house, and the growing area will be furthest from the street and neighbors. It's about... 15' maybe, from ground to "ceiling" (the main floor of the house). We're going to dig out a bed, because the soil is really terrible, very rocky clay. Lay down 1/4" mesh to keep out critters, fill with good quality soil. String up lights overhead, and plant (likely with my known girls). I may use something to keep their roots more separated, maybe divide using landscape fabric or some such, but at this point I have no specific plans.
 
Right now I'm just worried about having easily accessible water. The clay does not really drain well (practically not at all), so hand-watering is it at this stage. Although, I think a drip system, maybe using a manifold set-up so I can apply to each plant according to its needs, could work quite well. And topdressing (assuming a good quality mix is going into the bed to begin with). Circulation likely won't be a problem because of the size of the space, either. I'm actually getting kind of excited about the prospect. :D
 
yes but i was thinking that if i used irragation systems,i could have a drip tray where it catches it all and keeps getting reused,but that prolly will not work
 
yea but it does sound like to much work,when i could make a tank below it and have a drainage thing made of aluminum
 
it aint called a basement, its called an emptied out swimming pool with a wether proof tarp over it....
 
if you are going underground water is the first thing i think of. getting it down there AND getting it out of there. you could mount a container of whatever size above ground and fill the water in there and then let gravity get it down there for you with a hose and nozzle. getting it out of there is just as important. a simple sump pump would be necessary to pump out all used hydroponic water and excess soil water
