Infrared heatlamp

Thats very interesting. Apparently these ceramics dissipate heat as radiant infra red. Not sure what wavelengths probably rather spresd out. I know some ceramic materials are used for what they call near infrared or NIR which have shown so very beneficial health effects on human tissue.

HPS, which works really well for growing as long as you can maintain decent leaf surface temps has the majority of its output around 850nm.

my flower space is a 2x4 with 2 plants got 2 quantum 288 boards either side of 4 clu048s, will be hanging the infrared bulb between the clu048s
sorry no space to do a comparison.

Don't know if this is any help for you?

Nice write up, even though its more about reptiles. Especially intersting how NIR (less than 1000nm) penetrates deeper into tissue than others. But is there supposed a product being sold, never saw anything i could buy?
It's more for reference to wavelengths.
Im curious to if these ceramic heatlamps can be used as a far red initiator?

No idea but i guess well find out in a bit.
For the cost of £3 I'm contemplating taking a punt.
Do I just run it at lights off only for 15mins?
I have added 660nm which wakes the plants up?
Forgive my dumbness, I've read the far red thread but it confused me, a bit too baked.

well i flipped plants yesterday still in their separate veg tents as flower tent isn't ready yet, so only 1 plant will be getting the infared for the next few days,
2 different strains unfortunately.
plant getting the infrared will be euphoria dutch passion from seed as its a lot more squat and thicker than the other incredible bulk

I would definitely put it on a timer that does single mins rather than 15 min. 10 w of decent far reds per m2: about 3 mins should be enough.

You dont really need 660 nm to wake the plants up, theres plenty of 660 in white to wake them up.

The far red thread is really dense the first talk is about how to make a far red end of day light without a timer. Id just try to find whrre 2016 starts and go from there, paying special attention to whatever randomblame posts, he is very knowledgeable and allwys helps out.
