Infrared Cameras and Mini Split Systems

I was thinking about running a mini split system to keep my room cool but I was wondering if even though I'm keeping the room cooler will heat signature show up through the roof with infrared cameras or should I run water cooled heat exchangers on my air cooled lights?

U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled in U.S. v. Kyllo (2001) that the police can not use infrared cameras to locate "suspicious" concentrations of heat in private places and then get warrants to search for hydroponic systems. So I wouldn't worry about it.

Interesting...I haven't ever heard that before.

I've heard that any decent lawyer could argue charges away as you do need a warrant to use them. And if you have a warrant against you, you messed up somewhere.

So basically, don't show up on anyones radar, and you won't ever need to show up on the FLIRs.

Unless you're running a whole house operation whose to say that that blob of hot spot they see isn't a space heater? We live in america where even the most obvious of evidence cannot be used if its presented wrongly and it needs to be the most clear, screaming at you evidence the jury has ever seen, nothing can be assumed.

thats great info! im not too worried because I have a medical card. but im thinking about doing some care taking and dont want to risk getting into any legal binds arguing state versus federal law.

do not be worried infra red light is used for seeing in the dark. they use flir cameras to see heat and if a cop spots a warm roof you can bet your last buck they will be upon you like a ton of bricks, legislation or no legislation, your neighbour smelled something suspicious will be the actions on the warrant.
