Information on growing different strains?

I was wondering if there is a website that has a bunch of educational information on different strains and how they prefer to be fed and grown?

There's not enough stability in strains or solid naming conventions with them either. So unless you're growing DJ shorts blueberry, you're probably going to have a hard time finding a strain that even grows the same between 2 different seeds. The only way to really get to know a strain is by finding one you like and growing it over and over until you know all it growing jars terminators and oddities.

Sooooo true! I'm growing my second round of pineapple chunk and following my first runs notes to a t, problem is I added more lights this time around and now they respond compleatly different than last!

Also pineapple chunk isn't all the way stable. One, two different seedbanks have released it, Barneys and advanced. Two, I've seen 8 different people grow it and it's looked different every time. Flowering times seem to range from 8-11 weeks lol.

Adding light won't change how a plant grows. Changing spectrum, nutrients, grow medium, root temps, etc will.

I went from all led to 600w hps,it definately changed its feeding and watering habits, sure some if not most of it is the temp difference, but she def wants more water this time, also with the hps I'm getting more stretch and have to stay on my training a bit tighter

Edit: I guess a better way of saying it would have been my notes from pineapple under 600w(350ish) true watts are near useless for pineapple under 600w hps air cooled lol

Various Strains or Phenotypes have differing needs(not different needs)

theres basically 3 types

Sativas, from the tropics

Indicas from northern Asia

Ruderalis from Siberia, this one don't get you high, but carries the gene that allows autoflowering
this one is crossed with the other 2 so they can autoflower, fall to senescence or flower without the
need for darkness

^^^^ are on about stability, which is getting rarer and rarer every year, back in the 70-80's
a breeder/grower(you) would do a stability test every 2nd or 4th grow on 'new' strains

1: by germing out 100 seedlings for 8-9 weeks

2: on the 4th week(ugh!!!) switch lights to 12x12

3: 5th week switch lights to 24/0 for 7 days

4: 6th week back to 12x12 for 7 days

5: 7th week back to 24/0 for 7 days

6: 8th 12x12 for 7 days

Terminating the hermes as they appear,

to be left with

at most 10 XX females true females devoid of any XY or YX dominant gene
seed bank suppliers(growers) need to do these tests with every strain they cross
but do they ...

Obviously not

thanks for the rant! ..lol

No, you changed the spectrum by a lot lol. Hps is 2100-2700k, mono LEDs are small bands of red blue and white usually. LEDs usually need higher amounts of calmag and p in flower ime.

It's true every seed you pop grows slightly different but what all is everyone doing about it? I mean I pretty much do the same thing the same way with the same soil mix over & over with similar end results. When I was building up to this point & had inferior equipment & less experience adversity was the order of the day. I had to react to daily issues that arose as s result of my own stupidity but then again that's how you learn what not to do. If notihing bad ever happens you'll never have to figure out what you did wrong & make it work.
Don't over complicate this....focus on keeping healthy plants & that's all you really need to do. Strain specific characteristics matter very little even though it's true every seed/strain can have its own unique personality. I feed all my plants the same way & ive got 5 different strains going.
