Info on my grow medium?

A little info on the grow medium i used...

Subcools mix with Roots Original and it let it cook for about 2 months. I placed it in the bottom half of my smart pots. Then, I added the top half with Roots Greenlite (and mixed it where they meet a bit) and a little blackgold organic potting soil on top....

I feed only with OG Tea's VSS and RWstar in PH'd water for veg and for flower i have used AN's Big Bud, Bud Candy, and Overdrive in half doses but thinking of just maybe using compost teas and some Hi Brix molasses this go around. I also have some water soluble potassium laying around to bring out the lemon flavor in my Alien OG clones. Idk if thats a good idea or not to feed with though.

Any thoughts?

LOL... I definitely wouldnt say terrible.

My last grow came out definite top shelf quality although im looking to engance aromas and flavors more. I see the buildasoil thing but im just looking for simple answers from experienced gardners. The layer method has worked for me so f*ck it lol...and i notice the crustacean and oystershell amendments on the buildasoil site and noticed them in many growers own recipes...im allergic to shellfish so any such amendment is a no-go for me. I didnt even want to use fish bone meal, but i did....

Anyways, not tryna put down youre input but a person usually doesn't absorb the criticism of someone who says what theyre doing is terrible immediately lol my babies are healthy and i love them ❤️

Plus im past 4 weeks into VEG, so my method is staying but for flower i'd like to know what to do to enhance it.
Sounds terrible man.

Here's my thread on my method, read the link on the buildasoil website that's right at the beginning, that'll highlight why I say that.

I don't mean terrible like it's the worst word in the world. I just don't use in between words, things are awesome or awful lol. Not trying to salt your game bro. Let me be more constructive lol.

What are you looking to improve?

I would drop the AN bottle nutes if you want to grow organic. Organic gardening involves building your soil with organic matter and composts, bottle nutes (even organic labeled ones) carry preservatives that wreak havoc on your microbe population.

Growing organic you don't need to pH your water.

If you got a shellfish allergy then lime will make a fine pH buffer in your soil instead.

And I know it's too late now...but don't layer your soil...that's the big reason I want you to read the buildasoil blog. So I'm not just retyping it. You're denying your plants a proper root zone and nutrient uptake by practicing that method. It's why you find yourself needing to add those bottled nutrients.

Aside from that...seal up your room and get a co2 tank.

Don't let the temp ever raise or lower dramatically (don't let it drop or raise more than 15 degrees).

Light stress in late flower can stimulate terpine production, boosting flavor and potency. Nothing crazy, just defoliate a few of your lower fan leaves.

My biggest advice man, build your soil with compost and castings. Then do simple aerated teas (compost, castings, molasses), and steeped alfalfa and kelp teas to give you all the micros and growth hormones you need. You don't need to spend a bunch of money on bottles. Spend your money on your room environment. Lots of fans, properly supplemented co2, steady temps, will do more to improve your grow than any bottled ingredient the grow store pawns off on you.

Just my thoughts man! Sorry I wasn't more detailed the first time!

Right on, brotha! Glad you didnt take that the wrong way and did exacty what i was looking for. Simple adjustments, barney-style since im a street dude, not much of a science guy or reader for that matter. Thanks for the input! It was just as i figured, drop the AN sh!t and go compost teas. Needa get some co2 in the mix too but all the rest seems solid. Pce!

I wish my dispensary would hook me up with their inhouse grower because that stuff is the best i ever smoked but i hate how secretive ppl are with their techniniques and cuts. I would share the wealth like crazy cuz im tired of the sh!tty bud out here. I moved to CA and im thinking every spot is gunna have amazing quality but that isnt the case SMH. Just a high rant, srry.

I know the initial bill of a co2 tank, a regulator, and a ppm reader can be about as much as a nice light set up (around 300-400 bucks)...but nothing is going to increase your yield like that will.

And the dispensary's with good stuff won't give up the good cuts because they don't want any competitors.

Up here in Michigan (at least where I live) the dispensary's have crap weed cause they'll only pay 125-150 (then they sell it for 250 or 300) an ounce and most caregivers will just sell privately to patients for 200 an ounce. So anyone with good stuff sells privately, while all the crap growers unload their wares at dispensaries.

I'm selfish with my cuts too I had to do a lot to make the connections to get some of em and had to smuggle some here so I don't wanna share and ruin the uniqueness.

I got good ones from seed that I sell clones of though. I would recommend you get some seeds. attitude seeds is great you can order from multiple seed banks.

Yeah, I definitely get the business side of it, no doubt. And its def exciting to know u found the ONE. Lol

But it is still a medicine and id hope that us growers and smokers would be shitting all over the big pharma industry ethically. I know we all agree most stoners are among the friendliest and more compassionate people so, it kinda just threw me for a loop...Maybe one day, people will loosen up a bit.

All patients should be smoking top quality, period. Its sad all the garbage I see in dispensarys, knowing my block in NYC has got better quality bud than most shops here in CA. Especially Sour Diesel...idk why but it must be like Pizza. If it aint sour or pizza from nyc it aint sh!t lol

Anyways, if i got your cut. I still have to grow it just like you to produce the same product and do that consistently to make money off it lol...u know that sh!t aint easy even if i followed your grow step by step. But i guess i wont be able to skip the years-long pheno hunting process. Thanks a lot RastaRoy, it's a-holes like u! ✊

One of the cuts I have that I don't like to share is a genuine New York Sour Diesel. I can only flower a couple cuts of it at once...it out stinks the carbon filter. I am easily persuaded to share my rare cuts with growers just taking care of themselves. But when it comes to commercial growers and green thumbed dealers I'll sell them my blue cheese, headband, similar cuts. All my cuts are quality (I've been collecting and weeding ones out for four years now). I just hoard the rare ones. I am a little bit of an asshole, but it's only cause I've sacrificed so much! Lol

Start with seeds from a well reviewed seed bank, keep clones, meet other growers. Trade clones. Takes time and effort but you'll get to smoke lots of weed, meet lots of cool people along the way.

Give me an idea of what kind of smoke you're looking for and I can let you know what seed bank might have what you want based off what ive fucked with.

it'll sound arrogant, but I've yet to find anything at any dispensary that I like better than my own.
if you are interested i'm happy to share my method and technique, it's actually quite simple.
where are you in CA, i'm in santa cruz.

I used to freely share my genetics. (whoa that sounds DIRTY)
not anymore.
I will happily TRADE, but not gift.
Not anymore.
I'll be damned if I see another asshole grow my stuff with chems

Heard that! I've gotta know how someone's growing before I let them run wild with one of my baby girls. The grows I sell clones to the most are ones I consult for luckily so I get to see them and know that they're cared for! It's been a great learning experience for me as well getting to see how my strains grow in different types of rooms with different grow techniques.

my shop is soquel auto repair.
on soquel dr
if you need to find me, i'm there.
look for the 6'4" white dude
let me know if you ever are in the area, and i'll bring a strain or two

I'm up in Chico near Sac now...not familiar with CA too much so im gunna guess we're far lol. I got some clones from a very reputable nursery in the bay area but im just looking to grow some tasty stuff.

Some of the terp profiles on the strains out there are nuts. I dont even care about THC levels anymore lol...i find anything over 15% will help me out so im focused on the sticky flavorful stuff. Northstar in Sac is my go to dispensary. The quality bud they stock is best ive ever had hands down. All award winning batches being dropped and theyre grower is a winner himself.

Let me see your buds, if you dont mind... I'll take your advice but id like to see how ur beauties come out first lol

Thats the Sour i know! One gram will stink your whole car up like a skunks under the wheel. Im working on getting those seeds myself already, but i really enjoy diff Cookie strains like Do-Si-Dos. But i also enjoy Tangie, Blueberry, Most OG's....just not a jack, jillybean, agent orange, or anything tropical kinda dude. I really hate the whole smell and taste of jack so whatever terpene is associated with that ill pass on

You like the sour fruity strains best it sounds, me too! That and chocolate earthy ones.

Headband 818 from Cali Connection seeds has a nice sour fruit dank taste to it. Nice round nugs, super dense. Moderate node spacing, sparse to moderate foliage so it's great for amateur and experienced growers that don't like a lot of work. You can throw a tomato cage on it, top it a couple times and it trains itself out pretty well. Pakistan Valley from World of Seeds is a good one too. It's got more of an earthy fruit taste than a sour one.

This is my room of headband 818, a locally bred blue cheese, and skunk 47. Two weeks into flower...

And these are my blue cheese, Pakistan valley, and lapk (this is one of the ones I don't share lol) from a couple harvests ago.
