hempyju, i have been growing in my attic for 3 years in the uk (not sure bout your weather) but principles are the same. I have a secret jardin 240 tent with two 600w HPS lamps. After getting lots of advice i started with an air cooled system . This advice turned out to be shit as i spent a lot of money on air cooled reflectors, extra fan, extra ducting not to mention the extra DIY involved- all for no real drop in tent temperature, basically if its hot outside you cannot cool it any further by blowing hot air over your lamps. Air conditioning was not feasible as the price of electricity would not make the grow worthwhile. My loft (attic) was not insulated, I bought some silver bubble wrap (basically all it is) which i stapled to my roof struts, rafters, whatever, as extra reflective protection (its marketed as reflective insulation and every little helps), i vent in from my hallway and blow out through my chimney. i basically get a 5-10 degrees celcius(not sure farenheight) rise in outside temp to tent temp so if its 30 degrees outside its 40 degrees in, wayyyyy toooo much, i also am forced to switch on during the night as otherwise temps would get too hot. i cannot grow in the winter. I cannot grow hydrophonically. Growing in attics is not great,they are hot in the summer and cold in the winter and temp fluctuations are all over the place. Not sure if cops spend money taking to the sky's on searching for attic grow rooms or they look when they are up there anyway, depends where u live i suppose, i would love to take a trip and see what mine looks like. I long for a in house secret grow room. Just my experiences. peace.
