Indoor to Outdoor

Ok, this is my second time growin, i am just wondering if its a good idea to start growin indoors first in a growbox i have set up, and then transplant them outside...
Im using one 120v 60Hz lightbulb for the indoor. Is that enough light? I plan on transplanting them when there about a foot tall... FEED BACK IS GREATLY APPRECIATED, i plan on starting as soon as i get feedback. Thanks:joint:

What type of bulb are you using indoors ? CFL's work well for veg growth and are cheap. Buy a yoke and use two bulbs to a socket. A daylight (blue spectrum) 100 watt will do nicely for as short a period as you'll have them indoors. Leave them on 24/0 and then a week before you plan on moving them out, go to 16/8. When the move is made, "harden off" the sprouts by using limited (5-6 hours) direct sunlight for a few days. The sprouts will actually adjust to the greater lumens rather quickly. Make sure the indoor step includes a fan. It helps with circulation and strengthening the stalks. If neccessary, give the seedlings some stick support when you move them outside, so the wind doesn't snap them. Good luck with the grow...

that should be fine. I used to do that myself. I dont know anything about that little light bulb, ive never messed around with those. LOL.
but i know that that bulb isnt going to get them to a foot tall each. and if its just a regular bulb you wont ever make it to a foot tall with even 1 plant.

Im pretty sure its a CFL, its like spiral tubes. I just bought a splitter, so i have another question.
I bought a double socket splitter thing. The single end can screw into something, but i was wondering if i could just screw it into the lamp that i was using. This is really important to me because i don't want to cause a fire in the small space its in.

well i suppose that you could screw it into that lamp.........but thats not going to be able to be moved in a fashion that you can really keep it near the tops of your plants see.
You COULD take that lamp apart and just get the socket and cord out of it, or you can go buy those pieces separately and do that without fooking up that lamp u got.
and if your growing in your moms house quit and just do the outdoor off their land. Im getting the impression that you are by your language........if so your parents can go to jail for YOUR plants and that wouldent be cool @ all.........

:hump:As far as starting a fire is concerned, that's the beauty of CFL's. Although yout lamp may be rated for 75 watts max, two CFL's with 100 watts of power apiece only really pull 52 watts total (be sure to check your packaging for exact numbers, but most 100 watt CFL's use 26 watts each). On the topic of not getting a plant a foot high, I've seen 5 plants under an eight light bar with 16 bulbs in it, and the plants were over two feet tall. You'll be using the indoor like a farmer uses a greenhouse to sprout seeds to prepare for spring. Keep the light within an inch of the tops of the plant and you'll be ok, but it must be moveable or the plants containers must be adjustable in heighth because the seedlings will grow fast and the heighth will be adjusted daily.

ummmm hes using cfls not big t5 setups so how are you to tell him that his plants are all going to get to a foot apeice with 2 cfl's?

im experienced and i am here to tell you that they WILL NOT but what does kochab know anyways? Your 5 post obviously tell me that your grow talent is far superior than mine.

your cfls will be fine to raise the seedlings and transplant them to outside. @ a SMALL level like maybe 20 seedlings.

also if a person has no post they prob have no experience
use your better judgement

 Congratulations on your 1600+ posts. I wasn't trying to step on anybody's ego, just relay what I've experienced and two 100 watt CFL's will grow 1 plant a foot. I think it's great that you can spend all day on the internet posting. I've got other things I need to do, but in no way did I envision that, by simply posting a response for a beginner (that I have seen work), I would enrage the great krochgrab. Cut back on the caffiene dude.:peace:

no bro hes not using 100watt cfls. hes probably using the equivalent to 100watts of incandescent which is about 26 actual watts used.

sorry pimp i didnt mean to step on ya toes. there is some dude with the u/n name of "chug" going around posting advice that he has no idea about and i was still kinda enraged about it.
and i wish i had all day to sit on riu and help folks. That would be hella a fun job.

No worries mate. My skin get's a little thicker after my coffee. Just passin' on what I know, to whoever wants to read it. Not an expert, but I've had some success. I've made all the newbie mistakes and hopefully learned from them. Advice columnist for a marijuana growing forum ? Wouldn't that be the perfect job in a perfect world ?!?
