I have spent my time researching books/internet over the last couple of years and I hope i have gained enough knowledge to produce a decent yeild (if im lucky to get females). I have one seedling @ 2 weeks strain unknown and 3 seeds (can be either og kush/some type of haze) that have popped and have been in soil for one week will post some pics soon...
I am using cfls just for seedlings.Need help on choosing to go 400 or 600w grow tent is 3x3 6ft tall. the local hydro store has a 400w with built in ballast in light fixture for $200 I think its a hydrofarm with no vents on fixture too cool it... is this a good buy or will i be fighting to keep temps down.
Venting??s what cfm would be needed to for inline fan to vent out the room?/and bring air inside of this size grow tent. also im trying to use 4in ducting but does not really matter.
As for nutes I will be using technaflora starter kit. I will start to gradually add nutes once seedling stage is over in a couple of weeks.
I have $400 to invest but in one month ill return to work so will have some extra cash to spend. Any tips/tricks/info thats provided is greatly appreciated... If anyones has any corrections that can help my set up let me kno positve and negative. Thanks Og...

I see a nute burn on the tips that looks like it's a few days old, I see the whole plant yellowing which at this age is most likely a ph issue probably do to over-watering.

that all in one digital ballast is a great deal, but u have to buy an add on for around 40$ which is a fan that sits on top, then u vent through that. the 250 model non digital hps has an exhaust. I suggest going with a digital ballast/bulb/reflector. a yieldmaster reflector goes for about 110$ + a400 watt ballast+bulb will be under 400$ total. a 600 watt setup will cost you about 50$ more. you will need an inline duct fan+ speed control+ ducting, which can all be found at home depot. for a 600 watt you can get a 250 cfm inline duct fan for about 25$, then get 6 inch flexible ducting. buy like four 6 inch o-rings, and your setup is complete. from experience, i would go with the 600 watt, and if u can afford, go digital, cause u can interchange the bulbs, but the digilux bulbs are the best spectrum you can get. it will cost you a bit more at first but then you can continue to upgrade your system, versus by a whole new one. hope this information helped

IMO i would invest in some T5's florecents look at sunblaster then go to a pc repair shop and look for some pc Fans there simple to hook up i would use 2 of them for your exhaust remember to vent your exhaust high as heat rises and keep you air in low 4 " dryer hose is great with your 2 pc fans blowing out exhaust the air in will naturally fill in ur tent kinda like a vacumm cleaner effect as long as everything is sealed good your plants are far from ready for anything of 400 or 600 power

Thanks for the input when I transplanted it into that clay pot I used a very diluted mix of SugarDaddy and Root 66 thats what i was sure it was too nute burn because I keep the cfls 2-3 inch away from top so didnt think it was heat stress.... Ya I did add more water then I needed there is a little fan in there that is allways on and it dries the soil tops so me being dumb thought to water but I will take it easy on the watering.. thanks again

Thanks smokebros Im gonna look into going digital that def will save me money in the long run. DrFever I really dont want to use pc fans... Im looking at getting inline fans but untill I get the money pc fans will do I have one already, and I do understand they are not ready for that kind of power just trying to figure what route I will be going so I have everything ready

get the 600 w hps. buy a remote ballast and a good air coolable hood. something like this: http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-Digital-Greenhouse-600-watt-HPS-Grow-Light.asp i would go with a 6 inch fan something like this: http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-GrowBright-6in-Inline-Fan-&-Charcoal-Filter-Combo.asp. get these two things they are right around your 400$ budget and they will get the job done in that tent. ime if you grow in a tent an air cooled hood is vital if you wanna keep the temps down.

Todays pics any input on when i should transplant kind of wanted to let the other seedlings catch up first and what size container i was thinking like 5 gallon will that work or will I need something bigger for flowering??
