Indoor growing with soil, question with watering / flushing.

So i havent found a perfect description on how to water, most people care telling me with my 3 gallon pots what I should do run enough water through the pot to start to see run off, then leave it as is and let it get close to drying before doing it again, Also im going to feed nutes every other water. SO, my question!

If im watering enough to see some run off every feeding, and im only running running a nuted feed then straight water then nuted, then straight water etc, whats the difference between a standard watering an actually the plant 2 weeks before harvesting if im always watering enough to see some run off?

Any help regarding either question is greatly appreciated!

Anyone willing to help a new grower? This is the only thing stumping me in regards to my grow.

I never water my plants that much. Just enough to feed 'em, but never with run off. "Flushing" with water during the final 2 weeks is a subjective thing, some do, some don't. Remember, if you drown your roots it'll hurt far more than help. Damp/dry is the way to go.

So then watering everytime til i get a little bit of run off is wrong? Anyone else have some input?

Theoretically the most efficient way to water is as you described. But as you know new growers don't like vague ambiguous
terms like " let it get close to drying before doing it again". Best to know how to check the moisture in each pot so you can
water accordingly.

Here's what you do -- Get a long skinny stick, I use a 14 inch bamboo skewer, and drive it down into the rootball all the way to the bottom
of the pot. If you have just flushed your stick will have wet dirt sticking to the skewer all up and down it. That shows you what a fully
watered pot should look like on the stick. Next day drive the skewer in the same spot and check it. In your 3-gallon pots you should notice the stick
is wet on the bottom half or more. Next day stick should be about 50/50, by my experience. I would then start watering daily, especially now that
it's so hot.

I use nute water daily and have a sliding scale of how much each plant should get. Seedlings in 4-inch starter pots get 4 oz. or so a day. When they start shooting
up an inch a day I bump them up to 12-16 ounces. Flowering females get 24 oz.+ and more when it's hot. That's what works for me

Good luck and keep us posted.
