I've noticed in a thread or two the subject of deer eating plants has been mentioned. Here is a link to a site that lists a large number of plants that will repel deer.
Oh Deer! Try Deer Repelling Plants
Some that you can buy seeds cheaply at Wal-mart etc are,
Yarrow
Columbine
Blanket Flower
Baby's breath
Bee Balm
black eyed susan
They grow easy, just scatter the seeds around. These plants will also grow back every year. You don't have to plant them right in your patch, just nearby. It's a much better alternative to using chemicals that could alter your crop.
P.S. I have Borage planted with mine as well. It alters the soil and makes everything in your garden grow better.
