In need of advice for first grow

first of all this is going to be my first attempt at growing, I am in northern ontario, and have 10 purple power, 10 holland's hope, and 205 bag seeds that I don't know what to do with(that is if they even germinate) they are pretty old and were stored in a unsealed plastic baggie... I am planning on starting inside and moving outside.

My main question is pretty simple and yes I did look/search the forum, I don't know if I am looking in the wrong place or not but cant find any answers that seem helpful.

So here it is. How do you tell if your seedlings are ready to go outside? how long should I grow them inside before putting them outside? I don't want to plant the seeds outside as I want the best chance for them to grow... and cannot grow inside all the way through.

I am not going to ask too much else as I have found a ton of info in my search for this answer.

but if you do want to give any advice or tips of your own, I would appreciate it

Sure you really read everything? You should know that...

Why can't you grow indoors all the way?

i just don't have the room to do it inside... i can make room to start them, but there is no way that i can go all the way where i am now...

I don't know much about growing outdoors, but you will want to think of the daylight man. Your going to have some long summer days coming up bro.

i will forever remember grnman by his avatar..... jus plany dat shit outside let it grow 6 feet get that shit out sept-oct, idk what ontario weather is but youll see when its harvest time, if ya cnt grow indoors..... dont

i was planning on doing it strictly outdoors but wanted to maximize my plants, as from what i have read you need to plant a lot of seeds to go that route... i only have 25 seeds that i know most will germ(those from seedbank) the rest are all old seeds and will need all the help they can get from what i can tell, and a lot of threads i have read say that if you plant the seeds straight outside that you will loose a bunch(wont germ) and i don't want to take that chance. are you telling me that it wont work? that they would'nt have a better chance?

dont jus germ by potting in soil, look up threads on how to germinate, you woodnt germinate indoors jus chuckin it in a pile of dirt either, theres many methods (paper towel, pellets, sponge) jus dont throw it in sum soil, i mean it works, but its slow and doesnt give a good germination %

i was planning on germinating in a paper towel and putting in soil after, but was under the impression it was better to grow a bit bigger before putting outside. So you are saying germinate inside and then put them outside right after?

To me, it would seem better to let them get established and healthy inside, then throw them outside. When they are little they are very fragile. But going from growing inside then outside, they might not like that. I'll let someone else take it from here.
