They were only together a couple of years, but they're one of my all time favorites. Chas Hodges on bass, vocal, and occasional piano [ said he learned piano while backing up Jerry Lee Lewis on European gigs, and you can see it on the last tune]. This clip is a fine representation of a really good band, circa 1972. Albert Lee plays faster than I can think.

Not sure how you go from that to this, but they would not have been the same band without the three guitar army.

I saw Skynyrd before their first LP was released, in front of about 600 people, opening for [ I think ] Ted nugent and Amboy Dukes and [ I know] Jo Jo Gunne. They were awful. The last song was the worst, the dreadful 'Free Bird', until suddenly it wasn't....when the 3 guitar assault began.

I have in-laws in Jax who saw them in bars back in the day. They said the same thing.

Crazy how life works out. Ronnie's voice was screwed, they were cancelling shows and trying out new singers. Then the plane crash and he went to the top of Mount Olympus to sit on the right hand of Zeus.
