In general .....does weed smell worse when drying or when growing?

Assuming we are talking about the same strain ,medium -small plant (one of the stinkier ones) ,will it smell worse when growing or when drying?/

I'm asking because so far I have only dealt with low odor strains ,and couldn't see the difference..
 
In my opinion, the odor is strong regardless. If growing outdoors the odor may be less because of the constant breeze blowing.
 
Mine seems to smell pretty strong both growing and drying. My question is...why is modern day weed soooo funky smelling? I had a couple of grows in the seventies and none of it had so much stank with it. Are there modern day strains that have that sweet smell of old without the funkiness?

Most weed now has indica in it. Indicas generally have a stronger skunk to them. Sativas tend to have more fruity smells to them. This is not always the case. I also find it stinks the most a chop and trim.

Agree. Chopping and trimming is the worst for me as well, drying isn't that bad until I disturb the buds to make sure they dry evenly by moving them around.

OG Grape Krypt from DNA almost made me puke. Didn't smell that strong growing or jarred but that trim IT WAS BRUTAL!
 
I don't know why everyone keeps saying stink.....shit smells good either way growing drying smoking.....and my cannabob for men

in the 70s 8% THC was high grade bangin shit...

todays run 20-30%

trust me that grape krypt was not nice smelling. I normally enjoy trimming smells, hate trimming but the aroma is pleasant. That's been the only plant that stunk so fucking bad it was overwhelming. Was trimming a branch every few hours in a room with a carbon filter and it still took over my house to my basement.

I actually started to trim when dry because of that plant :)
