I'm thinking this is a calcium deficiency? & how to use this MagiCal? +rep

Hi, I have a few plants with some early stages of what I believe to be calcium deficiency. They are like 24 days old.

These guys have been in Fox Farms ocean forest since day 1... Under 250w MH, kept at 78F at an appropriate distance..

18/6 in 3.5 gals.... I only water like every 3-4 days now, so I don't think over watering is an issue



I'm using a brita filtered tap water... I'm thinking that's taking out the calcium...

I have MagiCal, but am wondering how often to use it? Do I water it in with nutrients, every other watering... Or do I add a little to every watering?

These are two different plants, I have another of the same strain (tangerine dream) that is showing no sign of similar deficiencies... I think these phenotypes are very sensitive. Treating them all equally..

It definitely looks to be a Calcium/Magnesium deficiency.

You can either get cal/mag+ or you can use Epsom salt.

I believe you would use them with your regular feedings.

With my nutes I'm supposed to do Feed-Water-Water

So I'm supposed to do plain water tomorrow, but I only water once every 4 or so days.. So should I just add tomorrow I guess and skip on feed day or what?

Sorry, totally looked over this.

You can either give it with your normal feeding or add it in between feedings so you can get a better reading on how your plant is handling it.

Epsom salt is Magnesium Sulfate and might also help.

Yes, sounds good.

Hey Verde add the MagiCal 1/2 tsp per gallon water every feeding you should be adding it with your nutes regularly. I would add it tomorrow just so its there for your girls and then add it with your regular feeding schedule. I have the Mix sheet from TechnaFlora so if ya ever need to know the ratios for any of their nutes ask or i can see if i can post it for ya

I've got the same thing but was a little tripped up with the situation

I'll just go ahead and add it in tomorrow at half strength... I actually added it last feeding at 1/4 strength but obviously this was not enough eh?


I'll post back on this thread with updates/concerns..

I'd say it is probably more from spilling solution on the plants when feeding them than anything else. If it gets worse it is probably pH related. Try to keep all solution off of the leaves.

No the spots started occuring on the newer foliage after the last time I watered.

I water the FFOF with water ph'd to 6.5
