Im I ready to start flowering?

This girl, well hopefully she's a girl, has been growing for about a month and a half and is just under 12" tall. Should I start flowering or should I give it another week? I have a good 4 feet of vertical growth room.

Depends on how tall you want it. Depends on the strain as well. 1 more month and it should be a foot taller. Really its up to you but i would wait awhile more. patience

general rule is most plants will double in size. which strain are you growing?

This is my first time attempting to grow and I got the seeds from a friend, so im not really sure what strain it is. All I know about them is that the plant he grew with the same batch of seeds produced some damn good bud. Should I wait till its about 12" to 16"?

With a plant that looks as good as that I think you prob know when you should flower. That is a very strong looking girl.

When to flower is more about height than time.

Measure the distance between the top of your container and the bottom of the light at its highest. Divide by 3 and this will give you the height of your plant at start of flower.


I see lots of grows here with the bottom foot of the plant completely bare. To me this says that the plant has outgrown the penetrating ability of the light, to me that is a waste, i want bud all the way to the dirt.

Right now I am using two 100 watt daylight CFL's with a color temp of 6,500k, one above one on the side. When I start flowering, I have a 150 watt HPS.

With that calculation I guess I should start flowering when she hits 12" maybe a little more. I have about 3 feet from the light at its highest

well if you dont have that much room for the plant to get tall then i would start flowering now, you gotta remember the distance you need the HPS light from the cola of the plant also.

Yeah thats what im thinking. In that case ill start flowering as soon as it hits 12", probably by the end of today at the rate its growing.

You got it!!!! One plant with that 150HPS you are going to have some killer bud, just remember you have a bunch more heat to deal with, i live in a hot part of the country and run My HPS from 10PM to 10 AM and lights out during the heat of the day 10am - 10pm.

I have about as much space as you do so im going to flower prob when they get around 10 inches or so

ok so I started the flowering stage two days ago and it has already grown over two inches. I have a feeling this plant is gonna get huge...haha.

Also how soon should the gender be apparent? It already has what looks like little green pistils, don't know if thats common in both genders though...
