I'm confused..?

this is a well known, very widely understood stance of the prior Bush admin.

did the leftist sites just discover this or something? :)

what would really make it worth something is video of Cheney saying the opposite now, but since we all know he hasn't oh well..

at least there is a chance that this video does help explain to the inattentive why he kept his mouth shut when W. began beating the drums....

Maybe you should have watched Jon Stewart last night as he had exactly what you say, videos of Cheney backtracking on Iraq. Saying it would be a quagmire in 94 and saying we would be greeted as liberators in 2002. If you actually believe Cheney is a good person, you are demented.

ok, well, as long as he didn't say it wouldn't be a quagmire i'm still right! think what you will of Cheney, he's not stupid.

we were originally greeted as liberators, they just got ready for us to go home a little faster than some might have anticipated.

You are delusional. You will say anything to hold on to the crumbling ideals of the Bush-Cheney regime, going down with the ship must be your credo.

just keep calling names med, it will make the reality go away... for a while.

Thats not a name my friend, that is a condition. A name is like asshole, and I haven't called you that for a long while, don't tempt me,~LOL~. Delusional: a persistent false psychotic belief; a deluding or being deluded.

as delusional as i may be this is still old news...

if anything it works against the left because it dispells the notion that Cheney is some kind of puppet master telling W. what to do. this actually high lites the fact that W. is sometimes so predisposed to an understanding that his most wise (yes, Cheney is by all accounts wise) counselors are a bit reserved when it comes to raising objections.

So you won't admit Cheney is a flip-floper, OK have it your way, your right the rats are leaving the ship. I'll bet cheney would leave if he could. BTW, My opinion of Cheney, just for the record: an evil neo-con asshole that would sell his mother on the corner for 50cents and has no feeling for humanity. The evil dickhead has made a pact with the devil and is holding to it. He is the Devil incarnate. Other than that, he's just a nice guy~LOL~.

flip flop is such a shitty word now. after the right used it against kerry, not to say i'm particularly fond of him, so many times for him changing his mind on things. i change my mind a lot. it's good to do that so you can reform opinions when necessary. In this situation tho Cheney is just unwilling to admit he was and is wrong. He's a douche.

smart as he may be, so was Mao Zedong and Richard Nixon and so is Karl Rove. responsible would have been a better trait for all these men to have had.

name droppin,

Cheney in '94 was explaining their stance on Iraq at the end of the first Gulf War, and was reflecting the opinion of Bush Sr., for whom he had served as Secretary of Defense. Their opinion was that they would not be able to control Iraq, as George Bush's first hand experience of CIA blowback (watching it develop personally from within the leadership of the CIA) had attested. They would face the same fate from home-grown insurgents that the government overrun by coups had faced from CIA-trained terrorists.

Cheney in 2004 was the member of the current administration, head of a nation that was willing to bear the burden of dead troops as long as it could be shown to be sacrificing for the greater good against the new middle eastern enemy: al-Qaeda after 9/11.

Vi has a lot of faith in these people, as one can tell from his continual support of the neo-con positions. He can say Cheney is honest if he wants to, but that doesn't change the fact that Cheney's original opinion merely reflected the current political reality. Privately, or even openly at think tanks for the next six years after his administration was ousted, he advocated regime change. Congress passed in 1998 a bill promising Saddam's ouster, backed by the think tanks that Cheney was a part of, which included Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, among others.

And besides: Doesn't anyone remember Cheney's unconscionable denial of ever having even hinted at the link between 9/11 and Iraq? He just says what's politically necessary; this guy's only real belief is American dominance.
