Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

I agree 100%!! It started for me many years ago as well, but we are finally here and for sure worth the wait, no doubt!

Hey, were you able to see any product at all inside the dispensary? I am just curious since I was surprised that I couldn’t when I went for the first time on Wednesday.
Enjoy!
Only a menu! I had already heard that you couldn’t see or smell the medicine prior to but I’m ok with that! The menu had all the info that I needed on it! Well worth it again! Congratulations man! Well deserved for sure!

I also would like to hear what it’s like the first time at the dispensary...my only dispensary experience is Colorado

10 days and counting

My first visit to the dispensary happened on Wednesday. They greet you and give you some paperwork to fill up( 5 min and only that first time). Then you meet with someone that explains the whole menu, buying process, different types and differences of strains, different ways to medicate(concentrate, flower, etc) It a Lot depends how much experience you have with Cannabis. If you know your stuff and know kinda what you want, they tell you to ask any questions and they will be there to help you in anything you need. If you are new, they will spend more time with you. The choices of products and methods are endless 8-)!
Good luck!!

I hear you! can’t complain at all, I was just curious. Even though I am familiar with Cannabis and it’s contents, it was a little difficult to buy by menu only, but again and like you, I am ok with that. I guess it’s a reason to try everything eventually :-P
Enjoy the relief man!

Right same here. I was still surprised that you couldn’t see it or smell it like it was still illegal even though it’s not!

Thanks...nice to know what to expect.

Now I am left out in the cold, Brewski and Resteoan. Please keep posting. I was unaware there would be more paperwork at the dispensary, and appreciate that update Resteoan, but should have figured. If you don't mind, it would really be nice to know what to expect if and when I reach the pinnacle you both have. It would also be great to know how you found the products. Mine will be for major back pain. I want to thank everyone on here. It has been very encouraging and beneficial. Congrats to you both Brewski and Resteoan........I am very happy for you. I hope only good for your continued experience. 86 days seems a bit long, but I will take it if I have to. Have a great weekend.
All that I had to fill out was a small paper name email etc nothing really much to do! Took less then a min. Did have to wait a few to go back into the room but that looked like standard procedure

They spent almost an hour with me one on one to answer any questions I had, I explained what I need it for (MS) and the girl told me what might be best in different methods, i.e, flower, gummies, chocolates, oils, you name it. She gave me a paper that looked like the periodic table of elements, far left showed sativas, far right indicas, and hybrids in the middle, with names of every strain. She was very helpful and said she gets feeling overwhelmed at first cuz most of us have bought from our "guys or girls" and often don't know what we're getting. This takes the guesswork out of it and can cater to exactly what I need and prefer. They did have some glass jars under glass counter with small buds in them so I did see some product. I went to the dispensary in Morris.

At the dispensary It was one on one! I’m pretty familiar with Cannabis and the different varieties and ways to use etc but it was kinda a lot to soak in. I just kinda started picking out what would benefit my personal symptoms! They will definitely help you along the way! Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Or ask here I’d be happy to help as I’m sure anyone here would help as well! I’ll definitely continue to post and watch you guys post when you guys get your cards and experience’s! Thank you all for posting your journeys!

I received my card today, and could not be happier. I will outline the timeframe and my trip to the dispensary. Before I do that, I want to thank those who were there to support, advise and share. You have all helped me a great deal. Today has been a very good day.

10-02-17 -- Application submitted via USPS
10-03-17 -- IDPH received -- confirming in email dated 11-21-17
11-21-17 -- Email to IDPH at 45 days -- Auto response
11-21-17 -- Email from IDPH noting receipt of application on 10-3-17 as noted above
12-06-17 -- IDPH cashed my check
12-06-17 -- Card states issued this date
12-16-17 -- Card received

75 days from start to finish
10 days (not business) from check cash to receipt of card.

I went to the dispensary in Rockford and they were amazing. I had a consultation and they entered me into the system. There was no paperwork to fill out. A young lady did all of it the data entry. She knew her product line and sent me out with suggestions to address my back pain, as well as something to help me sleet at night. I hope everyone else gets their cards soon.

Nice that place looks really professional. I'm not a med patient. I do keep a small grow for my personal use. Don't really like some of the stuff floating around. Yeeaahh good ol Rockford lol

I'd say if you have reason to apply, you should do it. It was a liberating feeling to walk in there and be legal.

Bluesboy, I agree there's a feeling of legitamacy and acceptance walking into a legal weed shop. We have all gone through a very strict vetting process to give ourselves a still controversial option. As our numbers grow we will become harder to ignore.

Resteoan and Brewskis -- You two have brought some real encouragement to this guy, and to the thread in general. I hope others can read all of these posts and find some true answers. Almost everything written here is accurate. And you are right, Resteoan, the feeling when I walked in was grinning from ear to ear and truly like a kid in a candy store. Thanks again and best to you all.
