Illinois Drought?

My dispensary reported a week ago that the reason they are out a lot lately is due to a scarcity issue. Went back yesterday and they were still low. Was told Cresco raising prices as well. Has anyone else noticed a scarcity at their dispensary? Wondering if it is legalization but the bud tender told me they've also had a huge number of new medical patients.

I think the only state that has an abundance of weed is Oregon. California = Drought too. Crazy right?

So coincidentally I haven't been able to smoke as much recently and have been able to miss most of this shortage. In Illinois, you really really have to know how to shop and also scour the menu. Go by brand first and genetics. If its got good genetics and is grown by one of the better producers then it should be good. From there you can look for deals. The best deals can be found in concentrates. Like I am dabbing some Bedford Grow RudeBoi OG Rosin and it is fire. I was able to get it for 50 bucks. Best rosin I have had in Illinois and has great flavor and effect. Just classic OG like back in the day. RudeBoi OG is by archive seed bank so its got good genetics. I also recently tried Granola Funk flower by Grassroots that is also very very good. Again it comes from a good breeder that I know I like (Bodhi Seeds).

There are lots of weird crosses in Illinois that are the producers playing around and I don't think they are that great. I think its better to go with established strains or at least crosses of established stuff.

The Dispensary I use normally has a pretty good selection. Not liking the increase in $60.00 eighths. I have had some and they're good but not that much better.
I use concentrate more now than anything else that is store bought.

Yeah I tend to go concentrate as well. My dispo does 1/8ths from 40-70. I am up near Wisconsin though.

I was at The Dispensary yesterday and inquired about when one of my favorites from Aeriz, Alien Rock Candy, would be back in stock. It was always a $30.00 eight. Now The Dispensary was told by Aeriz they want them sold at $55.00. With no rhyme or reason other than greed. And I really liked their products, until now.
These prices are getting ridiculous. I have grown for 26 years now and just don't get where they are coming from. It does not cost that much to produce a fine quality product. And I thought their prices were fair until this stuff they have pulled. Shame on all of the big producers in Illinois trying to go this route. I hope they get their heads back out of that dark, smelly place that they have shoved them and get back to more realistic prices.

I have noticed that my dispensary is only stocking 10-12 strains of flower now...

And only in 1/8 packages... no grams or 1/2 oz...

Anyone else noticed changes at your dispensary with January 1 coming closer?

Hi All, I join this forum last year, but a lot happened at home and didn't have a chance to participate. I am glad to see there are some medical users by the state. I am also in IL. I am the caregiver for my husband, but I usually go to the dispensary with him. But IL dispensary is a disappointment. Since IL will be an official legal state in 2020, there are many dispensaries popping up. Recently, we switch the dispensary (one just opened up near by my house) and last weekend, we went to check it out. Unlike our first dispensary, this place does carry many items, but no display of any products where we can see and check it out. So, either we need to know what we want before we head out to the store or have to have budtender to keep bring things out for me to check out, which is ridiculous! I also wanted to sign up 'meetup' group for cannabis, but nothing available near me.

Oh yeah and I've been making a stink about it. The producers are sandbagging there products. Call your state lawmakers and register a complaint. The medical supply was to remain unaltered as part of full legalization according to the law.

I am in the St. Charles area. So, my registered dispensary is Zen Leaf- St. Charles Dispensary. This is another stupid rule that IL put on cannabis patients. Why we have to register the dispensary with the state? If you have the card, that means, you are an authorized user. So, why can we just go anywhere you want to? I just don't understand the reason for these complicated rules. When I switch the location, I had to send in the change of dispensary form to the state, wait for a couple of days, then, another day waiting for Govt's system can update these changes before I can visit the dispensary.
And finally, when I visit the dispensary, I was so disappointed. No display of any product. Not even one. They handed me several pages of their menu and ask me which one I needed. Why bother visiting the brick & mortar store when you can even look at what they have. To me, IL dispensary is useless and I am not kidding, the bud-tender I dealt with knew less about cannabis than I am. And I am not an expert.

So we aren't that far apart. Cool.
All of the stuff to do with registration at a dispensary, I believe, was to protect the dispensaries market share. Larger companies could otherwise just undersell smaller companies to put them out of business. And it would be nice to be able to see product but there are accounting and lab analysis guarantees that have to be reported to the Illinois state police, department of agriculture and department of health. And legally each container has to be factory sealed. In the end it works out better for the patients though. Your medicine can be tracked from from the production facility to the process lab to you the end consumer. So you know that what it says it is,it is.
Now an uneducated bud tender would be a pain to deal with. I acted like I knew very little the first few times I went to my dispensary to see what I was dealing with. The people who work in Fulton are great people who are knowledgeable about their products. And if one of them is usure of the answer your question they usually will have someone else who can.

I agree. I recently visit a dispensary and bought 1/8 on sale $60.00 less 15% off. It isn't the top-shelf buds for sure. I made CBD oil from it. It helps me to sleep at night. but that's about it. The quality is bad, so even if I am able to buy it for large qty, I don't think I can get much oil out of it.

THE DISPENSARY in Fulton has a max special discount available $258/oz ( $40 eighths) if you buy all 70 grams at once and for just single oz of same strain ($40 eighths) @$275/oz. Also $189/oz for popcorn of some of the strains. There is also a $10 milage discount to people who have to drive an hour and a half or more to get there.
I really love the place and the people who work there. They do lots of promotions too. Btw if anyone decides to change their dispensary to this one please tell them JimmiP referred you to them. There is a page in the paperwork to do it on. They will give new patients a discount and I get a referral credit. You dont have to but it would be cool if you do. Thanks
I still want my $30 Alien Rock Candy back! Damn you aeriz!
