Any comments/suggestions regarding a potential Ikea hack?

specs on it read

Width: 43 1/4 "
Depth: 24 "
Height: 78 "

I'd keep front of the drawers intact but the entire wardrobe would be the grow space (lined with reflective mylar.

i'd do a 250w HID in here...

should i be concerned regarding safety (fire...)

i dont think you would need to worry about there being any fire hazard. i think you main prob would be light profing and venterlation mate but very good cab to start growing in :D

Thanks brother! I saw it and it immediately called to me. Would blend in perfectly with other furniture in my home office and is tall enough to house carbon filter and all the goodies.

I'm not so much worried about air circulation as I am about light sealing the thing. The two primary light seal issues that immediately come to mind are:

a.) air intake at the bottom of the cab
b.) light sealing the cab's doors

I'll probably have to have the air vent in through the bottom of the cab as the wardrobe needs to be adhered to the wall for support.

Any suggestions on light sealing the doors? I'd also like to install a lock on this thing without it being too conspicuous.

You could even go with a 400 for that space. I'd remove the bottom two drawers and just have the face of drawers backed with a strip of plywood and hinge it so it opens and closes. Thats gonna be a nice cab, solid and stylin. Good Luck bro, may you produce some fine ass herb.

Edit: For light leaks use 1/4 inch adhesive weather stripping on the inside of your cab. Look in heating and cooling section of Home Depot; I think they even have the silver backed weather stripping for HVAC.

Thanks Spoc. Yeah, I was planning on removing the drawers, but keeping the fronts attached to the face of the cab so it looks like sock and undies are in there haha.

Now all i need to figure out is how to the lock the thing in a subtle way (ie: no padlock on the doors etc)

There are some very clever ways to lock your cab that involve magnets. Google stealth locks and see what you come up with. I'm sure the site "icmag" has several threads on stealth cab locks.
