would you date a person who believes in god/jesus/w.e the fuck? personally I don't think i can be in a relationship with a person that's religious or even just believes in god.(no offense to all the religious folk around here, honestly dont wanna start a shitstorm) We would just be on different wave lengths, wouldn't sync up. bongsmilie

Im an atheist and my whole family my and gf family are super religious. My gf used to be religious and we were fjne. I couldnt date a religious fanatic but someone who believed in god yes. And plus i may not believe in god but i believe in love and thats more powerful than anything. As long as neither one tries to push theire belief on the other than who cares. Id support my gf no matter what.

I have to agree with Z0b on that. Of all the problems people have in relationships I find it hard to see how you can judge someone based solely on their religious beliefs, What if she was the hottest, nicest pot smoking surfer girl that happened to believe in God? Listen my girlfriend has a 3.9 gpa. Shes getting her masters. She has the biggest heart probably why shes becoming a Nusre practioner. Shes fucking gorgeous. And ill tell you what if we had kids and every sunday she was off to churcb with them. Well who cares. Firdt off i was dragged to church as a kid and i found out for myself what to believe in. My kids will have the right to do the same. Second how could i leave a girl who will study for 8 hours with a blunt in hand and get up every hour to check on the girls. And calls me with updates when im at work lol. She perfect. Every has the right to theyre own beliefs and maybe you shoudnt close your mind to any other belief bc that how we grow. We keeps our eyes and heart open always.

Knowing that someone believes in god is not enough information on which to reject or accept a partner IMO. Ultimately I do not care what is inside someones head as long as they posses the ability to curb their actions and expectations regarding me.

And I was molested by my uncle when I was younger, that doesn't mean I want my kids to have the same experience.

I don't mind one way or another so long as she respected my stance. I lean away from religion of any sort myself whereas my wife is Catholic. She doesn't shove it down my throat so I dont shove my opinions of religion down hers. Never had a problem personally. But if u judge based on religion alone you're the problem and are far from ready for a committed relationship IMO. To each their own.

It's the principal. Your argument was that you got dragged to church and apparently turned out ok, so it would be fine for your children. I think that is flawed logic and demonstrated it with an extreme example.

The basic morals the church teaches are horrible. They are sexist bigots that will taint young minds and influence them well into adulthood. There is absolutely not a single shred of good* morality that the church teaches that cannot be taught and embraced by an atheist. Please name one.

EDIT: * by good I mean things like do not kill, do not steal, etc. Bad morals [based solely on religion and not rational thought] would be to hate someone that is gay, or that worships a different god, etc.

Exactly. To me if you truly believe in god floating up around there then what else could you believe? It's like being an adult and still believing in santa clause. Would you be serious with someone that believes in santa?
