Identify this light please!

Hello, just wondering what this light is... I got it for free (along with two other fixtures), I'm going to use it for a CFL box. It came with this light but I'm not sure if its a loooooow wattage MH or not. Anyways, any answers would help. Thanks.

You sure? It doesn't have that autumn glow to it, or is the name HPS just a general term and theres different types of HPS? And would this light be better to use for flowering or better overall (v.s. CFLs). Lastly, what watt is it? Thanks again for your help pacman.

Its actually kinda lame believe it or not! I think the CFL I had was a bit brighter. That might have been because this 'HPS' might be pretty old. Who knows

And what is the wattage of this CFL 'HELICAL 13W 120VAC 60Hz 180mA' I had this bulb lying around. I don't know what the wattage is.. maybe a 23w?

And since it is a HPS, is it necessary that I must get a ballast for it? They are simple looking fixtures that are basic socket to wall plug in, doesn't look like much of an energy threat, any feedback on this would be helpful as well.

I dunno, I'm a newb at electrical stuff.
 
its just a regular incadescent lightbulb, the kind used to light up fancy dressers or tv units...... keep the fixture and put some cfls in !

HELICAL 13W 120VAC 60Hz 180mA

13W means 13 watts cfl...... =40 watt incadescent.
 
Thanks mobby, you're the best bro. The light was from a 'fancy dresser' actually. Someone knows their shit. I'm thinking about putting dual sockets in each fixture so I can throw 6 CFLS in those 3 'fancy dresser thingies'.

Would you happen to know if splicing all 3 light fixtures with 6 CFL lights into one plug would be safe?
 
Hm, okay. Just trying to figure out how I can fit all my lights onto one timer. I'm pretty sure I'd be using 23w+ for my future box. Know of any tricks in that area bro?
 
I use hps in larger areas so im not too experienced with cfls....... but check out the local hardware store for good shaped lamp fixtures, get the socket splitters and wire it up with a heavy duty plug and your in buisness!!
 
Light fixtures I'm not too worried about. Just needed the sockets. I do however need to find a 95w CFL grow light socket. I can't find those anywhere, I looked at Lowes, Ace, and Home Depot.

If I just get ahold of a heavy duty industrial plug I should be able to lace all of those lights together in one solid package without any problems? Sounds like a bueno idea. I wasn't sure if it depended on the cords you used or what. But hm, right, now I know.

How much did you pay for each 105w CFL? And they fit in everyday light fixtures as in the same light fixture in my incandescent picture?... THose bulbs look way too massive to fit in it :X
 
Check carefully the timer you buy-it is harder than you think to get a timer rated to switch CFL/Fluoro. The Grasslin GRASP24 is rated to switch 60watt of either.

Sorry to say, I don't think so, try it-I have had cheap timers twice delay my flowering, and I think they are therefore too expensive! - they cannot handle the start-up cycle of Fuoro/CFL and many of them specificaly exclude those applications.
