so ive heard that you can put a mason jar into boiling water and it will eventually do wat a vaccum purger would do, anyone tried this or is it even safe to use cuz we are not talking salsa in the jar on this one

lol....

i was actually wondering the same thing...

and what about using an air pump, a tupperware type container, drill a hole and tubing?

how would putting a mason jar in boiling water pull the trapped volatiles out of your concentate? this tech is false in the sense of replicating what a vac purg will do. It will however make your concentrate more liquid which will aid in releasing a bit of the trapped compounds, but it will not come close to vac purged.

ya this probably isnt a good idea to expose ur hash oil to elevated pressure and temperature at the same time...

altho i want to try using a tupperware bowl or something, or using some plastic like from an old bin, cut it into a lid for the pyrex dish and drill a hole and attach an airpump? like a hydro air pump normally used for a dwc system..i guess use greese/wax on the joint

I helped a friend vacuum seal some mason jars with weed one time. All we did was put wax paper over the rim of the jar, then screw on the lid as tight as possible. Then have a pot of boiling water, and play the mason jar inside, not all the way, half way was all we did. And you leave it in there until you hear a pop, and that is the lid being sucked down inside, and that was how we knew when we got a good seal.

Vacuum purging is to release all air pressure around such item so as to allow any gasses to release them self from the such item. Therefore making it purged complete

Vacuum purging reduces the atmospheric pressure to a point that butane will evap at lower temperatures.. Or more rapidly at higher temperatures..

That being said, boiling a mason jar won't remove enough air to lower the pressure inside the container enough to purge oil. You need an electric vaccum pump used for HVAC or a hand pump used for automotive brake bleeding to vacuum purge oil. In either case you need a pump that will go to at least 23-24hg for your efforts to produce any results. However 25-29hg is preferable for purging oil.

*hg is a unit of measurement for air pressure.
