ice in the water

So i noticed that the water for one of my plants in the bubbleponics set-up is warm. the room temp is about 78-81F but since there is only 1 gallon of water in the res the pump is heating is up. can i put some ice (frozen distilled water) in the water to cool it off?

i use water filled gatoraid bottles that i freeze to cool down my res. you could use frozen cubes as a form of topping off and cooling

You should be ok, just try to avoid direct contact between the roots and the ice.

I've used those ice packs for lunch boxes and coolers. They work great get like three that way you can have them in rotation as one thaws out you will have another frozen one ready.

ice packs (blue nasty shit) tend to leak, it's never happened to me (b/c i never used them) but i've heard stories

buy a few big ass salt water fishing weights (walmart) to hold your bottle down in the rez & away from the roots.
