Hello All

been meaning to start a journal for a few days now but decided to wait untill my my ice jnr's were at a healthy state first (been having some watering problems, first underwatering then overwatering) so the growth should have been a little futher ahead but they looking ok now....

if you are interested in checking out the challenges i had re: the watering issues check out this link below i posted on the marijuana plant problems sections....finally got a digital kitchen food scale which has really made the job alot easier for me when it comes to watering these delicate little babies..

https://www.rollitup.org/marijuana-plant-problems/355909-help-please-seedlings-not-growing.html

right here we go,

The strain is "ice" from 420

age 8 days since germination
one of the plants is 5 days old from the day they sprouted above the soil last friday
the rest are 4 days old since they sprouted above the soil this past saturday...

soil mix
45% potting soil
20% vermiculite
25% perlite
5% earthworm castings

lighting 4x 36 w cool daylight flourecent tubes
i also have 2 x 250W MH bulbs which i will start using maybe next weekend depending on how soon my plants get a few leaves going...

temperature is between 24-27 (i have another 2x 36 w warm whites which lays on the floor at the back of my grow box which i use for extra warmth if and when required)

and a deskfan for air movement is also in the box

ok germination method

seeds were dropped in a cup of water which was covered by a bowl for darkness for 7 hours in my grow box with lights on for warmth (temperature was 26 degrees or 81f)

7 hours later all seeds had dropped to the bottom and then put into soil mix in pots.

pots are 12 cm round 5 inches deep,
pots were then watered with 150ml of water and put in box (not directly under lights) pots were also not covered bu plastic/seran wrap...(this caused problems for me a couple of weeks ago and had to toss away those seeds due to pythian root rot)

but in the past covering my pots with plastic wrap to promote humidity and keep pots moist has worked for me i might add.....

4-5 days later all seeds had popped through the soil and placed under lights no further than 2 inches from light source..........and then i ran into watering problems hahaha (see link above)

thankfully the watering has been sorted out......."i hope"

pots still weigh a little bit more than my measurement pot which i use in conjunction with my digital kitchen scale to determine a little more precise how much moisture the pots actually still hold.... by my calculations i could be more or less around 15 ML of water moisture out when its time to water...this is an acceptable target for me to aim for when its time to water...

tomorrow morning i'll be hitting them with 100 ML of 6.8 mineral water with half dose of kelp.... (kelp is very good for seedlings, clones, and roots and in general very good for your plant overall)

no other nutes are added untill a few more leaves have grown out.( i do have some earthworm castings in my soil mix which should supply my plants with enough food untill they get repotted and get fed on a proper diet)

i do have some interesting facts regarding the ice strain which i will post as soon as i find the book with those facts,

well the main thing for posting a journal is to get feedback and advice after all this is only my 4th grow and lack alot of knowledge and still make many mistakes as i go along....so hopfeully with some help i will get some bud a in a few months with your help...

ok finally here are some pics
day 8 from seed

well day 11 from seed and day 7 from popping through the soil

for the most part they seem to be growing at least but i have two runts the droppy ones which are giving me a hard time, not sure whats up with them....so if anyone has suggestions please i'm all ears.

they were watered yesterday about 80ml each i think the two droopies may be suffering from a little over watering syndrom but i dont know the other two seem fine, and the pots seem too heavy from water moisture

here are some pics, the droop ones are togeather clearly visible

well as promised got some info on the "Ice" StrAIN as per Mr Jason king author of the cannabible series

"This Fat Paradise strain is a cross
of white widow, special skunk and
Northern lights. Basically you've
taken three of the most common
strains around, grown out thousands
of them, selected the best individuals
for parents. I felt the high just from
being in the presence of this specacular
plant."

well well definitely a strain that i dont think will dissapoint yummy

greetings

well were on day 10 from sprouting through the soil and day 15 from germination day 1

since the last post i have changed the light schedule from from 24/7 to 20/4 and i think they are enoying the darkness...

this morning i gave them a feed of molasses and they really seem to have enjoyed that too, they have all perked up nicely..

on a sad note onw if the plants have had some sort of a burn on one of the leaves, i have my theories to this but i could be wrong so please give adive..

a few days ago i gave my babies a light feed of some kelp, in the process i got a little water over the leaves.....so perhaps it was a little burn from the kelp (but i doubt it as the other plants also got a little water over their leave and they are fine)

theory 2 is i let my pots get pretty dry so by the time its time for them to get a watering they are pretty thirsty and not much water in the leaves/plant so my guess is this plant may have been just a tad bit too
close to the flourescent tubes causing a bit of a sun burn....

anyway the problematic plant is pretty noticeable by the one curled leaf.....good news is judging by the other growth i think she will be ok

some other news is i have germinated another seed in a slightly smaller pot.... the soil mix is differnt from the current soil mix. This time round i am experimenting with an organic pro mix which is peat moss mixed with perlite and some nutrients which include bat guano as well as dolomite lime to keep the PH stable... I bought this mix as is so i hope it is not going to be too strong for this seedling as i am planning to transplant the rest of my plants into that mix.(but it id an experiment) the guy i know from the grow shop i bought it from is also a grower and he told me he has had excellent results geminating seeds directly in this soil mix so we shall see

there is a slight hump on the soil surface so i can only imagine this seed will sprout through the soil sometime during the night.

well here are some pics
