I want to pick this one cola early...is it OK?

Hey guys. This is my first grow I've ever attempted so I want get some expert advice before I do anything stupid.

My plant is currently at day 49 of flowering. Most of the trichs are cloudy and the leaves on the main cola are beginning to turn yellow. There is one side branch cola that drifted away from the rest of the colas which in return has caused it to not get much light throughout most of the flowering stage.

I'd like to know if it would be OK if I cut off the entire branch from where it meets at the base of the plant or if I should just cut off the top of the branch or in other words the cola. The reason I am doing this is so I can make sure I am performing the drying method correctly before I chop down the entire plant.

Pic 3: Branch/cola I'd like to chop this weekend

I'd appreciate any advice! Thanks!

hey Majitoker... I wouldn't! I have ten in my growroom, from the looks of yours i'd say give it another week @ least! I decided to do exactly what you're thinkin about last weekend. I have another of the same strain and now I reeeeeeaaaalllly regret choppin it.. the one I left is now way heavier and bigger.. wait until it feels dense and looks "knotty" . . . . looks like FIRE though

Yeah most of the buds, especially the main cola, are developing knots which I assume are the buds swelling up. The hairs on the knots are getting tangled with each other. I'm hoping this baby is done in about 2 weeks or so. She's almost there!

Maybe I will wait then...

Anyone else care to chime in?

Dude forget the trichs, that plant isn't even close to being done yet. If you chop a cola now you're going to regret it. Seriously when you see how much weight is lost during drying you really want your colas to be maximized.

I recently harvested 72g (dried) off a single AK47 plant and I started snipping little nugs from the undergrowth on week 5 of flowering and I continued this each week until I was certain the plant was at its peak potency. I ended up chopping in week 9 of flowering.

dude. wait till day 60 at least. ive made this mistake before. u wouldnt believe the difference in potency just for waiting it out a little longer. ur also going to yield a little more. they really swell up at the end.

hey there. nice looking plant. if it was mine, I'd probably not cut it just because the reward is significant. but trimming is done to plants at all different stages for different reasons. if your reason is like you say, its stunted and you want to take it off. then that's a choice you can make. good luck. whatever you do I'm sure you're gonna be happy (and high) some say early harvest gives more speedy weed, versus later harvest being more couchlock, but again, individual genetics and plant growing conditions all contribute together to the plants potency and yield. walk on!

Ok, I will let her be. I won't mess with her. I was not planning on chopping her until at least day 60 at the bare minimum. We'll see how she looks at that point.

Thanks everyone!
