You've got at least 8 weeks but it all depends on the strain and your setup. Best thing to do is wait till the pistils change color from white to red or some color other than white. That means the flower is mature but not necissarily that it's ready for harvest.
Next you want to look at the trichomes using some form of magnification. When they start turning cloudy they are getting ready and when they start changing to amber they are done.
If you harvest when only a few of the trichs are amber then you'll get more of a head high while if you harvest when there are more amber ones then you'll get a couch lock body stone.
Sure, amber is a golden brown.Correct me if I am wrong but isn't amber pretty much brown?
