I think im ready for harvest but tell me if im not

The white hairs are like 40 percent amber and i know around 80 percent is around go time but my fan leaves are all starting to die. I also looked under a microscope and saw some amber trichs so im ready to pull the trigger. There a little droopy cause they needed water but if im harvesting whats the point. Any opinions are welcomed I just don't want to jump the gun cause this is my first harvest ever. Thank You in advance.
 
Instead of trichome or hair color, I watch the calyx and wait for the hairs to recede into the calyx. Then watch calyx double in size. This last round I have a strain that I always chopped at 50-56 days of 12/12. Watching the calyx I let it go 65 days. Its a world of difference for the better. Night and day... Yours looks like it can definitey go longer.. Trichome color can be amber one day and clear the next. Due to light degredation. So imo going by trichome color can be misleading..
 
Whats the strain? Is it an auto flower? The plant looks like it could use a 1-2 more weeks but your leaves shouldn't be that dead at this time
 
Being an expert in non-thriving, failing at the end grows, unfortunately, I predict its unlikely that your little buds will further improve much. I would say take them sooner, rather than later. A chemical complex change for the worse, due to over vine-ripening, is the big risk when trying to eek out those last few days of marginal growth.
 
Another ten days. Then learn the most important thing you can. Genetics are EVERYTHING !! Even the best grower can't make a silk purse from a sows ear. Or eufamistically, the bible says it best "As you sow, so shall you reap. Kinda addresses your entire life/karma thing, and your garden. :peace: & be kind.
 
give it a couple more days, go for 60-70% amber....if you like a more up high take it now, the 70% range will be more body stone typically, the fan leaves are doing what they are supposed to, giving the plant their last bit of food...good luck...elk..
 
You still have a lot of white hairs that have not receded. I'd say another week, but I'd focus on the trichs and where you prefer the ripeness. I like to see just a couple amber caps and the rest milky, no clears. Personal taste really. Your plant has been struggling. Next time feed it more and all the way to harvest. Make sure it has more nitrogen (not just bloom food) in the feed schedule. Good luck brother, almost there!

the more amber is more couch lock is a myth, amber trichromes are degraded thc and the only effect they give u is more nausea going to 70% amber trichromes would ruin your weed. the type of high you get is determined entirely by the plants genetics. Its the cloudy trichromes that contain proper THC and create a high, you will never get 100% cloudy tho as new trichromes develop and die off all the time, which is why you should look for about 10% amber 10% clear and 80% cloudy as a guideline for best results

IS CBD also a myth?

CBD is what causes couch lock, correct? There are lab tests that show CBD increases towards the end of flowering..and experiments that prove that high CBD = more body buzz.

What studies do you have to back up your claims that amber trich's (high CBD) ruins your buds? Or is that a matter of opinion?

cbd's are great but the degraded thc in amber trichromes is CBN not CBD. the mythology is that making amber trichroms cause the plant to have more CBD but that is not the case as the amount of CBD the plant produces is the result of its genetics, degraded THC becomes CBN through oxidization and the only effect CBN have is increased nausea disorientation and generally negative effects. CBD does produce the couch lock high you seek but letting trics go amber will not give you more of it
 
Definitely give it more time. Watch to see if there is any swelling of the seed pods beneath the hairs. If you see more fattening of the pods in the next few days, then let it go longer. Then again if you just see the hairs withering and not receding as the buds fatten , the harvest could be close. Point is you should allow for more time for packing on some more weight. If the plant is finished growing then keep and eye on how the trics are looking for desired effects.
 
I would agree with the folks who are advising on an lil bit of time as well as the genetics. Right now those don't have any real bud and would dry into a little bit of nothing. Good luck though chief!

I disagree,
I'm not trying to argue, I'm just trying to understand your point of view.

It sounds to me like you're "splitting hairs" between CBN/CBD/THC, but there are very few studies to support your statements.

Plants with high CBD/CBN are prescribed to chemotherapy patients to counteract the nausea, vomiting, etc..This doesn't matter if the high CBN comes from degraded THC, or long flowering times...these plants prove to be effective. Why would plants that cause nausea be prescribed to counteract nausea?

If CBN was so "negative", then why would the government spend millions of dollars researching the medicinal benefits of CBN/CBD extracts, yet still criminalize the use of all THC products?

I just don't see any evidence that supports your claim that CBN/CBD is negative, that's all.
 
the point im trying to make is that more amber does not = more couch lock as its not making more CBD the level of CBDs in the plant are determined by its genetics not by how many amber trichroms you have. CBDs are what produce the couch lock effect so if this is the effect you want you need to choose a strain that has a naturally high level of it, usually indica dominates. Letting your trichroms go all amber just degrades your THC and reduces the quality of your weed as the CBN which is in amber trichroms has very very little mind altering effects of any kind.
moral of the story CBD makes couch lock highs and amber trichroms are not CBD they are CBN
