I think I messed up. Help!

It's my first harvest and everything was going good until it came to drying the buds. I hung them upsidedown with a fan circulating air past them until they were dry to the touch. I put them into sealed jars and checked them the next day to make sure they weren't 'sweating' and the jar was dry, but the buds smell like lawn clippings and are kinda moist again after a couple days in the jars. Should I take the buds back out and let them dry some more to get rid of the smell and taste? Oh yeah, and they are not shrunk up and compacted yet either. Do they need to dry out some more? How can I fix this?

It's natural for the buds to get a little moist after beginning the jar cure--it's actually desired. You want to sweat out the moisture from the interior of the buds. When you open the jars daily, you're letting some of that moisture evaporate . It slow dries to buds for a smoother, better smoke.

The smell should begin to come around as the cure progresses...don't get worked up about it early, you've got 30 days.

Awesome. So I just need to keep opening my jars at least once everyday and the grassy smell will start to go away? Will the buds get more compact as well?

Also, do I need to take the buds out of the jars at any time? They are all stuck in one big lump right now when I shake the jar. Should I take them out and let em breathe then stick them back in the jars?

im no expert but i believe the grassy smell comes from not flushing right, seems like every time i get some grassy smelling dro it always snaps crackles and pops while burning which im pretty sure is the left over chemicals

No the grassy smell is the chlorophyll breaking down. It's natural to smell this during the curing process. It will go away after time. This happens to all bud. Not just bud that wasn't flushed. If you bought bud like that then it is fresh. Just chopped and they didn't cure it or didn't cure it very long.

As far as breaking the bud apart if it's all balled up together. I do. I shake the jar to break it apart. If it's wetter then I like I will dump the jar out for the day or a couple of hours depending on how wet it feels.

Yup, exactly what he said.

You do this to help minimize the potential for mold, as it likes to form where two buds are pressed together for extended periods of time.
