I know there's already a forum about oder control. But, I want to throw the question out there. I'm in the process of building my grow box and I cant afford to spend anymore money. Does anyone have any ideas to keep the smell in without using a Carbon Filter? Or, does it have to be a Carbon Filter?

Welcome, funny I was just reading up on diy carbon filters under 30 $ Not intending 2 b rude but if u r looking 4 odor control , why wouldn't u start there? I have seen products like ONA gel being used but still pricey? I have a very small op so I can just vent outside (Not the best choice ) but works 4 me. Aside from the obvious sealing all corners /seams what else is there? High end air purifier? again lots o $'s Maybe through up a few pics of setup that may aid u in your quest. Happy growing 2 all :)

Well, you do got a point there. I may just say forget it and let the plant smell how she wants to smell. I mean, I will just put the fan where I planned on putting it and just let mother nature take its course. Haha. Because, like you said ONA gel is pretty pricey and so are High End Purifier's. So, I may just rig something with dryer sheets, or air deoderizers. I really have to save money for other improvements on the box.

air deodorizers and dryer sheets will not make a dent on the smell. ona i would say does a minimal job but definitely better then what regular deodorizers would do. your house is either going to smell or it isnt. best way to stop the smell is a carbon filter. DIY ones are easy to make so stop being lazy and get creative. the 3 links above are the prime examples of what can be done easily (and cheap) about the smell.

again might as well not even waste your time with dryer sheets and regular air deodorizers and put that money to a solution, not something half ass's that isnt even going to work.

not trying to be rude just trying to save you some money and time. carbon is cheap at walmart, petco, petsmart etc. carbon, some breathable cloth and a stapler can make a carbon filter that will last a month or two before you have to smash up the carbon again.

good luck!

honestly ona gel is legit. just use it when you know peeps are gonna come over to your place you don't want smelling your shit. it's pretty expensive to use all the time though. when my plants are in full flower anyone coming over had no clue we were growing it just smells like fresh laundry, then you can go alittle further and put a candle out to cover the weird laundry smell if you please but you probably wont need to no one will have a clue
