ok. heres the deal. my seeds are currently soaking in the moist paper towels and should crack in the next few days. i have a light fixture thats shaped like a T and has two places for light bulbs. it used to be for an aquarium however i only have one of the bulbs it came with. the one i have is blue. what two bulbs should i put in the fixture just for starting germination for a week or two. i was told i could use normal household light bulbs to start them out till i move them outside. i have a few different light bulbs and was curios which ones i should use. i was thinking for one i shold keep the blue bulb because it was for fish so it must be some type of uv light. but for the other socket should i use a normal white lightbulb which is like 75 watts or a smaller clear 40 watt bulb.

thanks for your help

I would use the small flourescent light bulbs. or betta you could pick up a couple cheap shop lamps and some lightweight chain. and make a light pully system. You want to grow more plants than you think. lots will be males. If your gonna take the time and grow inside first you might as well sex them before you plant outside and only grow females. bottom line you can grow more better smaller plants under a tube I__________I vs. I_I

you can keep the tops right close to the lamps and not burn them. they will grow sweet thick stems.

i would do that except i dont have any flourescents and i cant go get any because i dont have a car. also my parents would be around so i need to do this somewhere in like a box or somthin where they r not visible. i only have 3 plants so a cardboard box or somthin shold be fine right? the only fixture i have is one that holds normal light bulbs. so i dont have the choice to go with flourescent bulbs. i need a bulb that can fit in a normal light socket. i have a few bulbs fr4om my lizard cage i could use. one being a bulb for the night time. would this be any help? i think im just gonna go with a small 40 watt bulb and a blue light bulb i have form a fish tank which i beleive is uv. any concerns or comments? thanks

If that is all ya got thats all ya got.
If these bulbs do not put off a lot of heat I would keep them as close to the plant as possible.
If you can get a cfl (spiral flourescent) they seem to work really well for veg.
The cfls are really cheap and they will fit into a regular light socket.

Yea. thats what i meant by the small flouro's. I would say if you cant sneak the lamps in. good luck growing under your parents noses. They nead care and mom's gonna wonder why you've been drinking pitchers of water in your bedroom. Bottom line moms aren't stupid they are probably down right nosey too. If not but for your own good. I would take them out as soon as possible and read my chissel plow method. you will smoke a lot more herb this year!!!!

yea they do. not sure bout cvs. others is shnizz. just remember be sneaky. Don't go throwing the cfl boxes in the trash, getting dirt in the bathroom sink, or leaving supplies out in your room. also don't get dirt on your clothes after mom sees you at dinner. potting mix can be dirty transplanting when you get bigger pots.

I do remember when i bought 4 ft. shop lamps they were dirt cheap. on sale at meijers. I walked mine home. I wouldn't be scared taking them home on the bus or anything. just not with bags of soil and supplies. if theres a will theres a way. if you can sneak the other stuff in and out you can do the lamps. not much more cost wise and more better saplings.
