I need some help

Hey all I am VERY new to this whole thing... but I have some questions about growing.

The medium is soil and I am using 10-10-10 fert. which is added 1 time weekly just about full strength. Also using fluros 1700 lumens on each plant. I do not know the strain it came from bagseed. I am now 18 days from sprout and they are still only 3'' and I am wondering why others have much more length than mine does. On one of my plants there are red spots (just one leaf on the top hasn't spread or changed colors in 6 days) can someone tell me what that is all about? Otherwise they are very healthy and spread out loving their environment...

Any advice would be good and hopefully I will get another thread going on my grow journal.... thanks :joint:
 
Hey so I am back and even more excited, for the NB that come on to the site looking for answers I believe I have found one.
So being worried about why the plant isn't growing like it should I talked to THE BEST PERSON there is about the growing problem. People all over the place say to keep changing up pots when roots start coming through the bottom, the major thing is to make sure you get a BIG pot and then when the roots start showing through the bottom CUT them because when you keep transplanting them to another pot its gonna eventually kill them and the plant is more worried about wrapping around the soil than getting taller, and since I have soo much faith in him I will start posting pictures and/or giving updates to let you all know how its working.

uhh im pretty sure you should never cut the roots haha.

With that siad you should only have to transplant 1 time during a full grow honestly. Or 2 max. If your starting in a growkit type thing.

Start in 1 gallon then move to 3 gallon and thats it. usually.
 
Well I am not talking about the roots in the pot I am talking about the roots that come out of the pots.... I have had to transplant 3 times and also my friend has grown for a livin so he knows what he is talking about and they have all been started indoors.
What should I do if I need to transplant again??? Keep getting bigger pots? That keeps stressin the plant out. And eventually even on these boards they say it will kill them, right now they are in the 17 qt pots so hopefully that means I won't have to transplant again....... but if you think you have a better idea then please let me know
 
hey all I have another question can you usually tell what kind of strain it is by the way it smells in veg? Like minty or like a low hint of weed/ resin??????
 
No they do have a small smell in veg. 3in and they are come out da pots? I dont see how you got roots comin out a 17litre pot and 18days and at 3in.
 
Yeah thats what I was thinking they are really really wide... I would say about 5-6'' which is really annoying me that they aren't that tall.... should I use a different fert? I am doing all the tricks that I could find on RIU but there aren't too many about helping the plant get taller or stretching :( .... they where in a 9 qt before .... i just put them in the new 17qt a couple days ago....
 
oh i forgot to say.... hopefully that means they are all females because they are growing so slow..... lol we will see and if so the pics of the grow will come up in a new thread.... i also just measured some of the plants and they are 3/4 of an inch taller now than they were when I woke up this morning...
 
Okay I have another question do you think that if I put mylar down around the plant itself that it would give the plant enough light to grow a little faster, because the tops are really thick......... does anyone think its a good idea to use mylar for that?
 
So I decided that besides the walls I am gonna put mylar around the plant and pot please make some comments so that I can get your opinion
 
Do you have any pics? That would help people help you lol. And about the mylar around the plant and pot, I dont know if it will make a huge diffrence like you want it to, but I dont think it would hurt you. But mylar on the walls will def help!
 
yes but how does that help with the size issue........ i would be more than glad to put some up...... but they arent growing taller... so I stoped with the camara .. I will take some pictures today

1. There is no reason to not fill the pot all the way with soil, unless you are extremely broke.

2. You need more light.

3. Move the lights MUCH closer to the plants, say 3" or so. Do this gradually so as to not piss your plants off.

4. Don't use anything to support the plant at this stage, as supporting itself is what will force it to develop a thicker stalk.

5. Take more pics and you'll get way way more responses.

6. Relax ... it takes time for plants to grow.
 
twisty man I have read the FAQ I dont need an essay I just need to know some ideas that people may have........ the FAQ doesn't exactly have my questions answered..... anyway the first pic is of plants 2 weeks younger and 3 1/2'' tall........ others are 18+ days and the tallest is barely 4'' tall.
 
Okay thanks sooo much ceestyle I will try and work on that advice. I dont know why I didn't fill it up all the way.... should I take them out and redo them? OR is that too much shock????
