I need led info!!!

So im in the proccess of building a grow room in my attic. I herd that the LED's run cooler and are more energy efficient but produce the same amount. Is this true? My main concern with this attic grow room is HEAT and i am really nervouse about starting a fire. So if LED's run way cooler that might be the way to go. Please give me your opinion on the leds from your experiences!! thanks

You shouldn't have to worry starting a fire in your grow space no matter what kind of light you're using.

Not sure you have researched the prices yet. I was in the grow store shooting the shit with the guys that work there and we got on the topic of LED's. He was showing me a catalogue and those units were running over 3,000 U.S. dollars. We all looked at the wavelength of the leds and the wavelength from bulbs for hps hid units. I was sharing with them I was reading on studies of leds and basically to sum it up its not there yet. Meaning it doesnt have the penetrating power and wavelength to match yields of hid systems maybe in the future but not now. The lower heat signature is a plus but the expense and the performance is a big let down.

Calicat has damn good point..Even if your burn 6 1000 watters HPS's in your attic it's not going to burn wood...Bad wiring is going to, well let me say it like this " The Roof, the roof, the roof is on fire we don't need no water let the motherfucker burn"..

Your better off using tech5's or if you got the cash spray foam that hoe, and use a mini-spilt 25,000 BTU AC and that mutherfucker burn...
