Hey folks,
I doing my first grow in a 2.5 x 2 tent. I have two plants 1, Sativa & 1 Indica. They are 2 months old. I topped them and then bent them over and tied them in this position. Is this correct?
Also, 3rd photo: the indica plant has a mass of leaves below the branches close to the stem... do I want that group of leaves growing there ?

Usually one would top OR lst. The point of topping is to get them to branch out. The point of lst is to keep the main top but bending it down will force the plant to branch out. You are going to have a bent over trunk with a bunch of branches coming out of it..... You could top and then LST the branches as they grow but doing both at the same time is not going to do what you want it to.

You should untie them. As the above guy stated, doing both isn’t good. When those little tiny shoots are like 6-7 inch then tie each one in an opposite direction and that will give the bush you want. Also, I see a lot of specks in that 3rd pic is it damage or is it dust of some kind ? Like white specs , also for plants that size you shouldn’t have yellowing at the bottom, it looks like you had defiency then over fert from the damage on the leaf set above .. so, I’d say give them a good rinse just water maybe 2 days, Th en feed 75% of what you were doing.. or have a feed water feed cycle or whatever works for you but I think you over fert from the looks of it, it is hard to say though as a number of things could look like that

You are correct. They were deficient and then it took a feed or two to get the nutrients right.
thank you fir you help.
I untied them, and will tie the branches when there’re longer.
but since one is a Sativa and much taller, will I be able to flower then togetherwith the differences in canopy height ?

You definitely can, but you can also not tie down the more indica one as much to keep them more the same height, or better, prune it so u have like 4 main branches growing and have 6-8 on the sativa one so it will get taller slower a bit compared to the indica

I untied them.
In my 3rd picture, the cluster of leaves on the stem, Is that something I want there or should I remove It ?

Every one of those "clusters" will grow into a branch. Everywhere a leaf grows from the stem, a new branch will eventually grow.

Ok.. I will do exactly that. Thanks. Just one last thing, should I remove the cluster of small leaves around the stem In my 3rd photo, or not?
(that’s dust in the picture. No dots on plant)

Here, this is what those clusters will turn into .. each one of those stems at one point was just a tiny little two leaf thing like yours030EE62B-F09B-4FDC-A7E5-0B442065D80D.jpeg

Wow. Ok. I thought I’d just have those 5 sets of leaves and branches at the top. I See I need to wait and give it all more time...
thank so much very helpful
Yeah man you are at the very beginning..... But you are at the stage where you will start to see them getting noticeably bigger almost every day. You topped them (a little early in my opinion but thats just me, they will be fine) so those branches are going to start growing like crazy.

This girl is in a 5 gallon pot of dirt sitting on a 5 gallon bucket (less bending over). This is about the day i flipped to 12/12.

I don't see a reason to untie them even if he topped them. I think having them tied down like that could end up in a very nice structure. Topping is not necessary when lst'ing, imo, but it won't really matter. It could make it even a bit easier because the main top gets stunted.

Well.... The point of "whole plant LST" is to pull the top down and stunt it so the branches can catch up. Ideally you would top the plant and pull the branches down because they will all tend to grow straight up if left alone.

Op, if I was you I would tie down. Add a second string near the base of the plant to the opposite direction. That way you can decide where the plant starts to bend. Bending it down now will make all the nodes start to grow up and that is great. Then you want to keep all the new shoots at the same level using string and they will become equal tops.

Here's an example of using lst to create a nice structure for a plant. Kind of hard to say which is the main top, because they have been kept level and they have become equal.

This what it was in the beginning after bending down very small and letting the nodes grow up to be tops.

Thats a plant that hasnt been topped...... His plant only has a few branches and wont have more branches until those branches start growing branches....

LST without topping (plant was tied to the bamboo stake every 3 days or so.

These are plants that i topped and bent the branches down as they grew. They turned into very nice bushes....

Beautiful.

Yeah, I never top. I do remove branches and auxilliary shoots.

The nodes are there so they will grow shoots. I see no reason to wait. It's not like it's gonna be bad any way you do it. It's just the way I would do it. Vegging cannabis is very resilient.

Yeah. Its the fact that its already been topped and only has a few branches thats why i wouldnt be bending it over. I would wait for the branches to grow and then bend them down. No reason to have your trunk bent over and then all your branches coming off the same spot.... Without really good support that could cause some major problems.
