I went to my local hydro store today and paid $200 for a light over that they have to order.. I'm in a 4x8 tent I'm trying to install this light mover to increase my overall yeild. I currently have 4 OG#18plants under a 1000 watt hps Hortilux bulb, ocho hood
]
My research has led me to believe that I will increase my yeild if I use the mover? Should I add more plants? Can I add more plants?,
I can't add more lights untill winter when I can free up some space on my circuits (when I'm not using air conditioners).

My buddy has a monster vortex plant by TGA seeds that he is willing to give to me. Could I flower these 4 plants plus the vortex using the light mover? I need help ASAP! I'm supposed to pick the mover up tomorrow so if I made a bad move and he's not gonna give me cash back I need to figure out what else I wanna get..
heres a quick idea of what it would look like sorry I'm not an artist lol

i dont think more plants would be better in ur case. more light to the ones u have would prob be the best bet. u only got 4x8 space to use so dont over crowd it. i like to have 1 plant per 3-4sq feet. 8x8=4..maybe 5plants

8 plants! they aren't vegged for 3 months man.. 8x4ft should be enough for 12 plants that are only vegged for 5 weeks...

just my opinion bro but the last thing you need right now is a light mover. your plants are super stretched out and all a light mover is gonna do is worsten the situation. light movers don't work in flower for as your primary light source. your plants need as much light as possible during flower to process the nutes you are feeding her. you are basically cutting the 12 hours of flowering light into 6 hours of direct light and 6 hours of worthless light.

your plants look way to stretched out. you'll never get thick colas with plants that stretched.which means you'll never get high yields. if you are only vegging for 5 weeks then you should be able to do 14-18 plants in there pretty nicely. you need to learn how to control that stretch. not sure what your lighting situation is in veg but it needs to be fixed. also, running the plants under MH light for the first 2 weeks of flower will help reduce the stretch as well.

if you have enough juice on your board for a 1000w light then why not just get 2 600w lights? only 200w more of power that you are using. that's less than 2 amps. you will get much better results and be able to keep the lights closer to the plants. i veg for about 6 weeks and can fit 15 plants in my 4x8 tent. i'm using 600's right now but switching back to 1000's cause i have no issue with heat and i don't care about the extra electrical consumption. i just thought i would see if i got the same yield and i think it's slightly less than what i would have gotten with 1000's.

Thanks for the response scoob!
The plants were givin to me I didn't veg them. I only scrog in veg and i use metal halide bulbs,my buddy over grew himself and gave me these. I have a small 20x30 inch tent I've been using for vegging small plants but no real place ATM for vegging. But if I had this light mover moving 3 feet or so back and fourth u think it's a waste?. I mean if I have to I'll put that $200 toward another 1000 watt and go big i will, but I can't use it till the temps in Michigan start to get way down. I can air cool 2 lights if the outdoor temps stay at 65° or lower but I can't run 2x1000 plus my ac on the breakers and I can't rewire shit or run a new breaker it's just not possible in my current situation... I figured the light mover would be a good way to go

2 600's will run you about as hot as a 1000w light and you won't need anymore electricity. plus, they will cover that space a lot better than a light mover will. with the light mover your plants are only getting direct usable light (6000fc +) half of the time. seems like a waste to me. light movers are great for veg. horrible for flower.

But I'll need 2 600 watt ballasts bulbs and another hood so might as well just run another 1k ballast and get another hood I have a cpl extra hps bulbs on hand

this is awesome advise!! i couldnt agree more..light movers are a waste of money imo. i would rather hang some cheap floros over the spot u want lit up more before i got a mover..just my opinion tho

I disagree, Your using wrong kinda lighting with a light mover. I use an LED bank 6ft long and 2ft wide, I use some 60' lenses to focus the light into tight penetrating beams that allow a few pass overs every other minute and I cover an 8x6 area in high intensity highly asorbed light that puts out about 127,000 lumens up too 36' from the origination. 10,000 lumens per square foot is recommended for HPS but only 15-20% of the energy put off is able to stimulate the chlorophyll. At 85-90% absorption from the spectrum designed to stimulate the chlorophyll's I need only 1/4 the lumens. Technology and common sense are making some very unique products available to the indoor grower, keep an open mind I typically see harvests of 4-6 zips a plant multiplied by six plants for my 900watts.( thats a pound and a half in case math sucks to do for you when yer baked and thats the lowball.) We have one exhaust fan, no molds. today in my area of oregon it was 94 Degrees. We run our own mix of soil with some microbial tea. IMG_1218.jpgIMG_1223.jpgthe plant is 21 days into bud and the temp under the light and above the canopy is under 90 . It costs as much as an e-ballast/hood/venting. on but I replaced 2 lights with one LED banks IMAG1171.jpg I do my WHOLE veg room with a smaller bank on light rail the same length vlcsnap-2012-08-15-05h17m49s131.png
